It does give the impression of being ignorant, and strikes me as kind of comical. Hearing someone say "the abortion pill" makes it really hard for me not to pass judgment on them.
Actually, luckily I've never even heard someone call it that in real life.

There are always going to be uneducated, ignorant people in the world. This is one of the reasons I am glad we have posts like the plan B one. Hopefully some posters will learn a little.
More than anything, I would love to hear from people who called it that or believe it is that. Do they use contraception at all? Do they believe all manners of preventing pregnancy are wrong? I am just curious. Were they uninformed and now that they know what it is do they change their opinion on it?
I do know a couple who believe the semen is sacred and cannot be wasted. She caught her DH having some solo fun in the shower and they went to their pastor for advice. For realz lol.
I should clarify too lol! The woman said the semen cannot be wasted with solo activities because it's a sin to not try all you can to conceive everytime.

I have no idea how to make the O-face-emotiocon but I would totally use it here if I could. I'm a little embarrassed for them!
Also- Good points. I'm curious to hear that as well.

All I could think when she told me this was "If the semen is so sacred why do you keep talking about it" lol. So strange but she was really nice and seemed very vested in her beliefs.

Every sperm is sacred.

Err, I should revise my answer. If you call the actual abortion pill an abortion pill, you are not a dolt. lol
I work at a pregnancy resource center and I missed the Plan B discussion, so I was really confused by the title and OP. I always assume a person is referring to mifepristone when they say "abortion pill." But I can't really be shocked by anything people think or believe about pregnancy--I've pretty much heard it all. Haha.

Do you really think someone who believes that will feel comfortable discussing their belief when they've already been called out for being uneducated, uninformed, and stupid?
Where exactly was someone called uneducated and stupid? I saw where a PP said they'd use the term "uniformed" but I'm definitely not seeing the others.

I wish I'd never opened this thread. I've been singing "Ev-er-ee sperm is saaaacred, ev-er-y sperm employed!" for the last ten minutes and I see no sign of it stopping soon.

Okay let me swap "stupid" for "dolt." Better?
and AG used to word "uneducated" in this very thread. So, there's that.
To me being uneducated on a topic does not equal stupid. I am uneducated in physics so would never engage in a thread about it. If people think plan B is an abortion pill they are uneducated on the topic.
AG I totally agree with you but she was asking who said "uneducated," insinuating I made it up. I don't disagree that it's an uneducated assessment my point was simply no one would come forward after being called any of those things.
Sorry I misread your post, thought you said I said stupid. I appoligize.
The only ignorant people I see are ones who refuse to acknowledge that Plan-B does in fact keep a fertilized egg from implanting, SOME OF THE TIME. No this is not the intended application of the drug, just as it's not an intended or advertised effect of any birth control pill, but it is a "side effect" none the less. For those of us who have a moral, and/or religious belief that all life is precious birth control, Plan B, and any other method of artificial contraception that has the potential to "abort" a fertilized egg is in the most crass terminology, "an abortion pill", however I think it's better classified as a forced miscarriage since technically the woman is miscarrying the fertilized egg.
I'm not going around calling people who support abortion in all forms "baby killers", or "murderers" so please refrain from calling me a "dolt".
Part of this is playing devils advocate, so maybe you will take a moment and set aside your judgement and understand that there's a legitimate reason people have moral issue with any drug that will artificially cause a miscarriage. As a woman who's suffered two early miscarriages I have a personal issue with this because it makes my grief that much more marginalized by society because every day women chose to terminate their pregnancies at the stage mine was at and further along.
Until this country finally defines when life begins, be that at conception, at 24months gestation when a baby has a fighting chance at survival outside the womb, or at full term, we will always have people fighting on either side of this issue. But please treat those who disagree with you with some degree of respect. I've never seen a post on here that was railing against women who have made the decision to have an abortion, or used contraception.

And for the record I use Natural Family Planning, which is NOT the "rhythm method". There are several forms of NFP, all of which track some or all aspects of a woman's fertility cycle. I personally use the Marquette method, which is using the Clear Blue Ovulation Monitor to track my hormone levels and tell me when I'm fertile (which is about 4-5 days a month). During that time we simply abstain from intercourse, thus preventing pregnancy. It's simple, takes me 3 minutes every morning between my period and when I complete ovulation (for me that's about 14 days total a month). I'm not putting artificial hormones into my body that made me terribly sick, or permanently altering my body or my husbands. So no I'm not uneducated, or uninformed, or even misinformed. In fact I know more about my body and how it works than probably 70% of women. I know the moment there's a change in my body's natural cycle and can see a doctor months before most women have any inkling there's something wrong.

I don't mind the idea that you can make the argument that any sort of hormonal birth control can essentially cause a fertilized egg to not implant. However, the main point is that plan B is no more an abortion pill than any other hormonal birth control pill/device on the market--they ALL can have that effect. It's inaccurate to label that particular method "an abortion pill". It makes you sound ignorant (not you personally--the collective you).
I can respect that you don't believe in any kind of hormone contraception, but I'm sure there's many ignorant people out there who pop a birth control pill every morning but shake their fist and call Plan B an abortion pill too when they're taking the same exact medication that can cause the same exact effect.

We don't use birth control, albeit for other reasons, but I have a hard time with the position you're taking. Do you consider every fertilized egg that doesn't implant a miscarriage?
From the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists: "Between one-third and one-half of all fertilized eggs never fully implant. A pregnancy is considered to be established only after implantation is complete."
So what about those cycles where an egg is fertilized, doesn't implant, and a women gets her period? Should we just assume that most women have multiple "miscarriages" in their lives and don't know it? DH and I were discussing this recently and it's an interesting topic.
