My mom called me last night to tell me she has breast cancer. And now I'm scared. It's only stage 1, so it seems they caught it early enough. She's still so young, only 47. She's struggled with cysts for the last few years, so, thankfully because of that she has to go in for mammograms and ultrasounds every 6 months. This time though, the pathology report came back positive for cancer. It may only be stage one, but it's a pretty aggressive form. The doctor seems positive about all this though in that she will be able to beat this. Thankfully it was caught early enough. She will have more surgery October 10th, and shortly after will start radiation therapy. I'm still so scared though.

IVF #2: 11/12 cycle postponed due to Sandy and then cancelled due to elevated E2.

Stage 1 is about the best possible stage though. DH's ex wife had breast cancer, twice now (first diagnosis she was 30), and both times were stage 2. She had the aggressive form and both times it was triple negative (non-hormonal). She had to have seriously aggressive treatment, but she's doing GREAT now.
My grandma also beat it, twice! She's still doing great now and has reached her "5 years" twice over since her last diagnosis.
Your mom WILL BEAT THIS!! Did the doc mention chemo at all? With DH's ex she had surgery then radiation then chemo. Then the second time she had surgery and then chemo (she had a double mastectomy so no radiation then).
Be strong for your mom. She will probably need a shoulder to lean on occasionally. Ask her if she needs someone with her at her appointments, etc. This isn't something that anyone should go through alone.
You'll both be in my prayers!!

Hopefully they caught it early enough. You're feelings are totally justified no matter how advanced it is. Cancer is a scary thing. Hang in there. T&Ps for you and your family.

Beta #1 3/4/14- 105. Beta #2 3/7/13- 397 EDD-11/11/14. 1st u/s 3/20- 6w2d lil' bean with 120hb. 7w0d- lil bean's hb was 144. Graduated from RE 3/25/14.
She didn't say anything about chemo yet, just the radiation therapy. I know her surgery on the 10th is to go in and clean out the area, and while she is still under they will remove and biopsy a lymph node in that area. If that comes out positive it means it spread a bit and he will remove more. I'm not sure if that will change going in for chemo or not.
DX: PCOS/Recurrent losses/MTHFR mutation (compound hetero)
5 hysteroscopies/2 surgical
3 Inject IUIs = 2 m/c's and 1 BFN
IVF #1= BFP. m/c at 7w6d. Needed 2 D&C's and scar tissue removal. Mild OHSS
IVF #2 = BFP. Severe OHSS. 4 Drainings. TWINS!
I'm sorry! My dad was diagnosed with carciod cancer this summer, so I know how scary it is to hear that kind of news.
Fortunately my dad's cancer is a type that is slow growing and should be able to be managed-and it sounds like your mom's was caught early and should have a good prognosis.
I just wanted to send a hug and let you know I understand how you feel-but all you can do is try to have faith that the doctors know what they are doing and your mom will be ok!

OCPs again for IVF 2.5 mid-March. IVF 2.5 transferred two "gorgeous" 5-day blasts and BFFN. Even REI is baffled
On indefinite hold until a huge stroke of serendipity led me to IVF 3 May 2014
Testing found positive cardiolipins/APS, now on lovenox and intralipid infusions
Transfer of 2 5-day blasts and (FINALLY) BFFP!! 1st ultrasound shows two sacs and two HB, but one is sluggish, almost expecting vanishing twin Subsequent ultrasound confirmed vanishing twin, but my other Little critter looks fantastic!

Moving on to IVF.
IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy
Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14
After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14

Me 38 MH 41 - TTC since June 2010 - dx with Severe MFI. Straight to IVF with ICSI. IVF #1 - ER 06/13/12 - 9 Eggs Retrieved - 4 ICSI'd - only 2 fert. 06/15/12 - 2DT - 3 cell & 6 cell with fragmentation. Beta 06/29/12 - IVF #1 = BFN. 07/20/12 - WTF Appt -Told by our RE to quit IVF. Second Opinion from RE is good. IVF#2 - November 2012. Estradiol Pills Started 11/6. Stims start 11/16. ER 11/26 - 7 eggs retrieved - all mature. 4 fertilized with ICSI. ET 11/29 Transferred 3 embryos. Beta is 12/10. 1st Beta 81 2nd Beta 160 and 3rd beta 360!!! First U/S 12/21/12 - We saw one beautiful gest. sac. 2nd U/S is 01/04/2013 - H/B 183 02/05/13 - NT Scan - everything looks good and IT'S A BOY! Aiden was born 08/20/2013.
IVF #2 is in progress. ER was 05/12/14 - 11 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized with ICSI. ET was 05/15/14 - we transferred 3 embryos as we did on the cycle my son was conceived. We were able to freeze 3 embryos. Beta is scheduled for 05/26/14. 1st beta - 111. 2nd beta - 159 didn't double
3rd beta Friday 5/30) - not a lot of hope left. Beta # 3 is 247 - probably ectopic. Beta # 4 is 813 - possibly vanishing multiple sydrome? 06/05/14 - 5w4days - first U/S - we see a gestational sac and yolk - still have hope! 06/17/14 - 7w1day - U/S and saw and heard the heartbeat - Finally! 06/27/14 - 8w4days - Baby and heartbeat look and sound great 
EDD 02/01/14 and It's a boy!

Thank you ladies. I thought about cancelling this FET, but we are so close to the transfer, and She's only 2 hours away and I'm not currently working, so I think we will continue with the FET.
