anybody buy the breathable mesh crib liner?

how do you like it? i am HUGE on protection and safety and i heard the breathable liners are way better for babies. my mother bought me the bedding set and all my friends use regular bumpers, but i'm having second thoughts on using it.

and if i don't even end up getting the mesh liner, wouldn't she be ok not even having a bumper or do you think it's better to have some sort of protection?

Personally, I feel as though it's up to the individual. If you want bumpers, use them. If you want the breathable ones, get them, because you're getting them for a reason, not just because they are "cute" or whatnot. If you don't use them at all, it's not like most other countries in the world don't use them either.

While my doctor recommends no bumpers at all we bought the breathable mesh bumper. Not for protection for the baby. The baby probably wont be able to move with enough force to seriously hurt themselves in the crib.

But we have a dog who loves to stick her nose into everything. She has already shown a tendency to stick her nose and tongue between the slats and that bothers me.

We are one of the few countries that haven't banned bumpers. If you look up the recommended guidelines no bumpers should be used. It can restrict air circulation, even the breathable ones. There is a law in the works banning bumpers in the U.S. as well. I never used any with DD, she did great. I'm not planning on using any this time either.

We did this also because our doggie is curious about everything in life. LOL I personally felt better about having something there just in case but that's my nature seeing as how I'm a worry wort.

I bought them and they do not fit my crib so I returned them. If there is any design to your crib at all they may not work. I have the graco lauren, nothing fancy, but they didn't fit that properly even.

I bought them and hated them. Unfortunately, I washed them before I realized this, so I can't return them. They didn't fit my crib correctly and just looked weird.

We just buy two sheets and my mom makes a crib bumper since you cant use half the bedding packages and they are either ugly or too expensive. We skipped the breathable bumper since it was one more to buy and I didn't think it would fit right. DD got her leg stuck once when she was about one not bad and she has always fought sleep so she went through a phase where she would slam her head against the crib. But a bumper wouldn't have helped anyway. I would do what you are comfortable with but probably skip it.

Guidelines recommend no bumpers, brbreathable or not to reduce the risk of sids. I have a close friend who lost their 3 month old to sids last fall. We will follow recs and will not use any type of bumper.

I have one but don't plan on using it until the baby starts really rolling around. I found it useful with DD because he would keep getting his arms/legs stuck in the slats while he slept. But this isn't an issue until they're active in their crib.

This. Just a few minutes of research online will tell you that no crib bumpers are recommended, not even breathable ones. Why risk it?

We did not use bumpers with DD until she started rolling around. Once she was on the move and getting her arm caught outside the darn crib, we bought the breathable bumpers. I think once they start rolling a bit might a good time to put the breathable ones in.

We didn't use any bumpers until DS was much older, definitely to the stage where he was crawling and sitting up on his own. We had bumpers in the crib for decoration before he actually slept in there, when he was in the bassinet in our room, but never when he was actually sleeping in the crib.

We borrowed the breathable bumpers from a friend because when he became mobile, he kept getting his little arms and legs stuck in the side of the crib. We used those for a few months until he figured out how to get his arms and legs out if they got stuck, and then took them out. He now sleeps in the crib with nothing in there but a pillow and blanket at 19 months, but as soon as we get curtains put up in his new room, we're going to switch him to a toddler bed.

And I love it! I have the Carter's Just One You Heirloom Crib and although it doesn't fit perfectly because of the even number of slats in the back, we were able to make it work and it looks as it usually would.

Exactly this. We parents have enough to worry about with things that we CAN'T control, I'd rather err on the side of caution with bumpers.

We have furbabies as well, but train them to stay out of the nursery. We did this by keeping a baby gate on the door and working with them to get ready for baby.

Also, I think they're ugly!

Got them/it and LOVE them. We put them in when DD really started rolling around (just like a PP), and also when we discovered that her feet were getting stuck in the slats.

We took them out when she started pulling herself up, so that way she wouldn't use them as leverage at all. But the breathable mesh crib liners are also designed to 'push down' when a baby stands on them.

We will also be using these for #2 - taking them out before they really cause a problem. We feel better having them than not, as we're not a fan of the traditional thicker bumpers.
