Feeling...weepy

DS was born at 39w5 days and today he's 39w5d old. The only reason I know that is that I write him letters weekly and they're numbered :)

This "milestone" has made me a bit teary, which is unexpected. I miss those teeny baby snuggles, but I'm much more in love with him now than I was with him as a small, screaming baby. I miss tucking him into the Moby and cuddling, the naps with him on my chest... sigh. I also have some sadness looking back at the lack of hospital pictures of me and him, but it is what it is.

It's also hitting me that we're quickly approaching a year old-he started last night to get his legs tucked under him and I have a feeling he'll be crawling normally soon instead of the army crawl. He also crawled over to me, climbed up on me and stood up (holding on to me) when I was sitting on the floor yesterday and he wanted the banana I had. Time needs to SLOW DOWN!

Re: Feeling...weepy

  • I know the feeling.  DS recently hit 40 weeks (he was born at 40w1d) and when I told my DH we both got a little emotional that DS has now been "outside" as for as long (now longer) than he was "inside".  Time is just flying!  I can't keep up.

  • Oh boy, I hear ya! I just scheduled DS's one year photos and it just hit me like a ton of bricks! I'm not ready to trade my baby in for a toddler. When coworkers ask how old he is now and I say 9 months, I dread it when they say he's hardly a baby anymore. He'll always be my baby...I agree that the newborn snuggles are amazing but I admit that was not my favorite stage. This momma needs some sleep!

  • I could have written your post.  I love this stage where he is learning so many things and becoming a real little person, but every milestone we reach has my heart aching.  Those first months were hard, but I miss those sweet moments so much.
