CDing in warm weather

I live in south Texas and needless to say, it is HOT. You would think it would be cooling down like the rest of America but it was in the high 90s today.

Anyways today was DS's first day in a fuzzibunz aio diaper and we were out running some errands. He was screaming like crazy for about 15 minutes so I got him out if the seat to check if he was sitting in pee or poop and there was nothing. So I put him back down. He kept crying the whole rest of the day off and on [yes he was fed and changed once].

We finally stopped somewhere to eat and DH said he looked red. I got him out of the car seat and he was sweating so bad on his back and around his little legs and his area. I felt terrible so I put a disposable on him [the only other diaper we had was a Charlie banana aio and that's basically the same material]. After that he slept for 6 hours even with us transferring him from carseat to bed. So basically I'm summing it up to the hot weather mixed with the warm CD was making him hot.

Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions? Im really bummed that he was so sweaty in them.

    We're in Hawaii visiting my family and have been using flats with covers.  She's sensitive to cotton dipes so using a suede cloth liner and California baby diaper cream.  That seems to be helping.  We're using g diaper disposables at night since she goes 6+ hrs at night.  I should go cover less at home but don't have anything to put under her except one diaper pad and a pile of flats.

    Going through a similar situation here in Southern California. It's been 85100 degrees every day for the 6 weeks LO's been here. I use cloth when we have the AC on and disposables when we don't. LO didn't cry from being hot in the cloth diapers, but they felt moist on the unsoiled parts, so I figured best to hold out for AC and, eventually, milder weather.

    Alright thanks for the tip! I have an order of prefolds that should be here hopefully today. I'll use the folds and covers when we are out on hot days and see how that works.

    Was it mainly a problem in the car? Get the AC blasting before you put him in the seat, and keep it blasting toward the backseat while you're in the car. I live in DFW and we're just now getting a few days under 100. I have never had a problem and use fleece diapers most of the time. On the days that it is that hot we mostly just go from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned school, etc. If she does play outside we keep it short when it's that hot anyway so it hasn't been a big deal.

    I do make sure to change her every 2 hours or so, even if she doesn't seem wet. That heat + moisture is the real uncomfortable culprit!

    that's odd.  any cloth diaper is going to be more breathable than a sposie made of plastic

    I agree. I will say though that my FBs seem "hotter" than my BGs or Kawaiis. I don't know if it's becuase the microfiber feels heavier than my other brands or what. I just avoid them on the really hot days and grab another brand of CD.

    I will say though, is your kid just naturally warm? I have the warmest baby on the planet I swear. Even as a newborn she loved laying under the fan in just a onesie. So much so people yelled at me all the time to cover that kid up..lol. Whatever it works for us. Even now at a little over 1..she still likes the lightest layers possible. . It's esp. bad in the carseat so I dress her accordingly.
