Had my dr's appt

Had my first Dr's appt today. My first child was 10lbs 4 oz, i never went into labor, scheduled a c section because was told baby was too big.

Dr now said he would not advise a VBAC as it is not common that babies get smaller the 2nd time. He said that I have a small pelvis.

Dr said uterine rupture is a small chance but if it happens it is catastrophic.

Damn! I don't know what to do!

My first child was 10 lbs, 2 oz and my second (VBAC) was 8 lbs, 5 oz.

I know plenty of people who delivered 10 and 11 lb babies vaginally without a problem.

And FWIW, there are no statistics to show that subsequent babies are usually bigger.  Personally, I only know one person IRL whose second baby was bigger.  All of the rest of my friends had smaller babies the second time.

Also, he seems to have not told you about the risks of a c/s (such as the fact that you are three times more likely to die than in a vafinal birth- a SMALL chance, but he seems to be telling you about the small risks of a VBAC without telling you of the small risks of a RCS).

I'd talk to a different doctor who is at least willing to give you an even assessment of both options.

This! Definitely get a second opinion. Is it the same doctor you had the c/s with?

My VBAC baby was 2+ lbs and 2+ inches bigger than my c/s baby - VBAC with larger babies is totally possible.

It sounds like you need to research, check out the link that the PP gave you but also do your own research.

Also, as someone who has been diagnosed with cephalopelvic disproportion, aka too small of pelvis,  true CPD is very rare and is often just found to be a "catch all" for doctors who they really have no concrete idea why baby wouldn't come out.

ETA: look at this link from youtube about women who were labeled as having too small of pelvis yet went on to have babies around the same weight and some much bigger. This is a video that kind of put a fire under my butt to research https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roFVkDV45MM
