Impressed with work support

Im a RN at a hospital. I just checked into where the pumping room is at work and found out its in the OB unit. Well...they supply nursing employees with pump tubing, horns and collection bottles for FREE and have a pump room with an ameda hospital grade pump. With DS1, the hospital I worked at was so unaccomidating. This is a nice change!

  • My hospital is like that too and honestly, it's the way it should be!  Of all places, it kills me when women post stories of horrible pumping experiences and they work in a hospital.  Kuddos to your hospital :)

  • I'm loving your hospital. That's such a great place!
  • Yeah this hospital is so much better. It's even recognized officially as a family friendly workplace.

My last job was horrible. I had an office in our department and my boss made a snide comment about needing to get the room deep cleaned and carpets cleaned because it smelled, quote like sour milk. My FEMALE boss then proceeded to bug the crap out of me about weaning my son because it was just time for formula. He was six months. I pumped at work until he was a year old an the only reason I quit was because I was ready to be done with it.

I'm at a much better workplace

  • I also work at a hospital and our room also has a fridge stocked with water, Graham crackers, and a microwave/sink. They also have an Ameda and provide a kit. Before leave they do a "baby shower " where they share benefit info, have a lactation consultant and rehabilitate person do education with us. They also did great door prizes, I actually won a pump for home!
