I am trying to connect with someone else who has had to have a tendon Transfer because of a Brachial Plexis injury. My 14 month old son was born with Shoulder Dystocia and was diagnosed with Erb's palsy in his right arm. We have seen therapists since he was 1 month old and his specialist ordered a MRI for his shoulder. We got the results last week and his ball and socket is out of place and they are proposing a muscle transfer, as well as putting the shoulder in place. This will help with subplexation, and suppenation and give him a better range of motion. I am was wondering if anyone had been through this before. I am not quite sure what to expect and I could use some insight. How was surgery, recovery time, any struggles with the lovely cast he will have for 4 weeks? Thanks in advance.

Re: Tendon Transfer (Erb's Palsy) Brachial Plexis injury??
My goddaughter had that and the surgery was a breeze for her. She did amazing in the recovery and is 6 now and doing great. The hardest part was the bathing, but she was so young she really didn't have any major issues with the cast.
She had hers done at the Scottish Rite in Dallas Texas and the Dr's there are fabulous.
