Okay i'm sorry first off I just need to vent somewhere i'm a mess right now! We have a pretty small storage unit where we keep all of our holiday decorations, mostly Christmas decorations, a bunch of stuff for around the house and the tree, tree decorations, outdoor lights, stockings...everything. The boys keepsake christmas decorations is what kills me the most I think. Plus there was some of the older baby stuff from the boys, their crib, swing and bouncer. All of it is now gone. Thanks to some POS loser 5 units down from ours who decided to make drugs in his storage unit and the whole line of units buned down. I'm so overwhelmed right now and with baby coming we're not going to have money to replace all of the decorations...i'm really heartbroken right now. Sorry ladies thanks for letting me vent.

Re: So much for Christmas in our house :-(**UPDATED**
Oh wow. I am so sorry! Can you call your insurance company and ask what is typically done in this type of situation? I would imagine that the storage facility would have some type of insurance, but I don't know about contents . . .
Thanks ladies. I have renters insurance for our house and I already contacted them and unfortunately they do not cover any stoage properties. I figured that. And the storage unit does have some cruddy liability insurance company that is going to take months to get anything out of and they want proof of anything and everything that was in there. Which of course it wasn't big stuff like big furniture or appliances or TV's so of course I never took pictures and documented it all. I never imagined something like this would happen...Definitely a lessoned learned.
And the boys and I will be spending the next couple weekends finding fun stuff we can home make to make up for some of the decorations we lost.

First of all, I am SO sorry to hear this. That really sucks!
On a brighter note, there are soo many great decorations on Pinterest that can be done cheaply or free with stuff you already have at home! There are plenty of tutorials to make salt dough ornaments...you could do handprints or use cookie cutters to make all sorts of ornaments.
We just made coffee filter "stained glass" pumpkins...you can easily make them xmas ornaments instead of pumpkins. If you haven't seen them yet, you just use regular markers to color on a round coffee filter, then spray with water. When dry, you can laminate and hang (this was a last minute project so I used clear packing tape to "laminate" them).

We recently moved to a state where it doesn't snow so we're going to make these this year: https://pinterest.com/pin/185703184605473751/
I hope you and your boys have a great time making new decorations and new memories

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
I'm so sorry that happened
I hope something gets sorted out before the holidays.
I know when we were younger we did some budget crafts for the holidays. We used an old puzzle and glued the pieces together into festive shapes (wreaths, trees, candy canes, and the like) and painted them. Couple ribbons and poof in less than 10 dollars you can make ornaments or your own little tree. I hope this gives you a little family time to replace some of the lost items
Again I'm so sorry that came to pass.
Oh my gosh! So, so sad for you. I would cry big crocodile tears.
We just stored away all our baby stuff in a storage unit last week because we are going to try to sell our house and needed a hoarder like pile cleared out. Now, I'm going to call our insurance company tomorrow and see if they cover stuff in storage... So heartbreaking! Maybe you can find some garage sale/consignment stuff closer to Christmas to at least make it more festive in your house. I bet someone will get a new tree and get rid of an older version. I'm so sorry that happened!

A million thanks everyone! I appreciate your sympathy sooo much! We are already "pintresting" and looking up fun craft ideas to make with the boys and I even found someone on craigslist selling their christmas tree for a pretty good price so it looks like things will be okay after all! I really am thankful thats all we had in storage!
The family whos unit was next to ours, her DH is over seas fighting for our country and she is staying with her parents with their DD while he's gone so almost all of their stuff was in storage and is now gone! We are doing a fundraiser here at work and at our boys school to help her with some of the costs to replace some of their stuff. I really see how lucky we were for that it wasn't too much and I know everything will work out and we will get more baby and christmas stuff along the road. Thanks again for all your thoughts!
