DS's sleep has gone from great (7-10 hours), to good (1 wake up), to okay (up every 4 hours), to bad (up every 3 hours) to worse. He is now up every 1-2 hours the entire night.
On top of that, it now takes 30-60 minutes to get him to sleep initially and a minimum of 30 minutes to get him to sleep after each wake up, which leaves me with only 30-60 minute naps all night. His new favorite thing to do is wake up at 3 and stay up just long enough so that is when I have to start my day.
Dh has stepped up a lot, but we are both running on empty. For the past couple of weeks I've been constantly constipated with severe stomach pains and cramps, had horrible headaches that are relentless, and my work performance is slipping.
Ferber is starting Friday night. We are at the end of our rope.
Re: Up every hour
I don't have any profound advice. Good Luck with Ferber I hope you are able to find something that works for you.
I can completely relate BTW Ellie has taken up similar sleep parrtern not a lot of sleep night or day. DH hasn't really "stepped up" as I'm on leave still but I feel close to breaking so I hope he can help me out tonight/tomorrow while he's off.
I am sorry... I am there with you we are going through something similiar. We've had L in her crib for 2+ weeks and ever since then she has not STTN. The best we got was 1 wake up on the 3rd night. Otherwise she wakes up 2-3 times at least, and last night it was every hour. I think she had gas last night but still it's been a regression.
I think we need to read up on Ferber as well. When she is crying it's not like a whaling scream its more like a "aye aye aye". And as soon as we walk in she stops after we pop the paci in her mouth. She just can't put herself back to sleep.
I hope it gets better and I hope you feel better too!
We should have eachother numbers. We could have conversations. ALL NIGHT. EVERY HOUR. I get your pain. That was my night last night. What is my name again? I dont know. Tired. BAH!
Good luck with Furber. Im going to have to try something this weekend.
Thanks everyone. I didn't want it to come to this, but I feel like it is needed. The boy only slept 6 hours last night....broken of course. I hope his crying isn't that long. Just thinking about it breaks my heart.
We are going to keep one motn feeding for now.
Honestly, you will likely get more sleep during the training than you are right now. Is there a reason you are waiting until Friday?
are you putting baby to bed on his stomach? we just started doing this 4 nights ago...and he sleeps SO much better. his last feeding is around 7/730 (we give him about 6oz) and then we give him ANOTHER 4oz bottle an hour later at 830, right before bed. It knocks him out.
I feel for you, we were having a week like this and I was dying (at the end of my rope). The first night he woke up at 2am doing his usual crying, but we let him cry for 20min, he fell back asleep, and the next 3 nights he pretty much slept through the night for the FIRST time.
Wishing you luck and sleep!
Again, you might be already, but we started putting LO on his stomach to go to sleep and it helped so much! He is a gassy baby too and it helps his tummy to be on his stomach.
