Is this still a concern for other mothers? I know they say lay them on their back and if they flip on their own it's ok but my LO screams when I lay him on his back. If I put him on his stomach and pat his back he will fall asleep. I have never let him sleep this way though and after almost 7 1/2 of both of us not sleeping well at night I'm considering just putting him on his belly from now on. I was just curious how others LO's were sleeping at this age.

If he can roll over on his own he's totally fine. At this age they are strong enough anyway and know to turn their heads. Our doc said it really isn't an issue anymore. I lay DD down on her back but I'll find her in all kinds of positions in the morning. Most of the time she's on her belly, face burried in her little hands. This morning the butt was up in the air, too - hilarious.

Both the pediatrician and physical therapist said that we should be putting him to sleep on his back but if he were to flip over, we could leave him.
However, we tend to put him on his back to sleep except when he seems to be super fussy or cranky.
