Pregnant after 35

Finally have an appointment this week - hope doc shows up this time.

So ladies I haven't been updating much cause there hasn't been much to say.  I was supposed to get an ultrasound last Wednesday (I was 8w2d).  I showed up, and due to some scheduling mixup, the doctor wasn't even there!  The RN tried to listen with the Doppler but really, what are you going to hear at 8 weeks especially when my uterus is off to the side somewhere and tipped the wrong way?  She did think she heard a faint flutter but couldn't be sure.  She also tried to do a pelvic exam, but due to the weird placement of my uterus, she could only feel the top of it and could not tell how big it was.  So they rescheduled the ultrasound for Friday, only to call me Friday morning to tell me they had to cancel because my doc's son was sick and she was not coming in that morning..  Sooo frustrating!  Anyways, I am now scheduled for this Wednesday.  I HOPE the doctor manages to show up this time.

I've been feeling pretty crappy, although today for whatever reason, I feel OK.  Also, I appear to have a bigger pooch than normal, which gives me some hope that the baby is growing.  It's crazy because I didn't look like this with my daughter until at least 16 weeks!  Guess it's true that the second one shows earlier.

Anyways, thanks for listening!

Melissa

  • Your doctor should know better than to mess with pregnant women like that! That sucks. I really hope that next time will work out PROPERLY and you will get to see that baby!

  • I feel your pain! One of my appointments was rescheduled at the last minute because another patient had a preterm labor scare, myself and a few other ladies were bumped to make room in the schedule. I didn't care much though, because it was reassuring to know that the medical staff at the practice makes time for anyone in an emergency situation. Your experience with a scheduling mix-up is incredibly frustrating, though!
