Mommies of 4month olds and solids

How are your babies doing on solids? Pedi suggested that we start DS on solids and we started with Oatmeal. He was having that in his bottle a month back due to his reflux, so I was really excited to stop giving it to him in his bottle and now using a spoon. Well this is day 3 and... he just aint getting it.

Did you all find that your 4 month old did not get it? How long did it take for your DC to catch on? I think he is just not ready. I am going to keep trying and he will catch on eventually.

    Sounds like he is not ready. ?I wouldn't push it. ?He has his whole life to eat solids.

    My pedi suggested we start solids b/c DD gives us a hard time eating during the day.  She's fine at night, but during the day she'd rather play & gets distracted, so she told us to start solids to give her something "fun" to do.  I don't think she's ready & she's only 4 1/2 months old, I don't see what the rush is (MIL is pushing it already, too), so we're waiting probably another month.

    we haven't started yet because he's gaining weight so well just on BM and formula so i'm waiting to closer to 6 months.  i'm an occupational therapist and my speech therapist friend said that if my son had difficulty with cereral when we started to play with just an empty spoon first so he gets used to the feeling of it.  that might help your son adjust!

    we're actually doing really well with it, but most moms I know had a tough time the first few weeks. wait a few days and try again. there's no rush.

    sounds like baby isn't ready. No need to rush - they'll be eating solids for the rest of their lives.  We waited until 6months with DD and will be doing teh same this time around.  They get most of their nutrients from BM or formula the first year anyway.  My pedi recommeds waiting until at least 5- 5 1/2 months.

    I have been trying this week, and it seems like a big failure to me . I don't know if I should keep trying or wait and try again later..... I will probably give it a break for a week or two and try again.
