Recommend your convertible car seat!

We are looking around and really there is so much to think about.  I know the Britax brand seems to be the best, right?  But as it looks, we're going to have to buy 3.  Mom and Dad, and then sitter.  Is that what you all are going to do or are doing?  Is there anything comparable to Britax, that is a tad more affordable?  Some of them are over $300 and if I have to buy 3, good gosh!

TIA!

  • We bought the safety 1st complete air 65 from target and I got for like $98 with free shipping. DS had been in it for a few weeks now and so far so good. I refused to pay that kind of money for Britax when all carseats must pass the same safety standards.

  • The truth is that they're all safe.  Some are cushier or look nicer than others but they're all fine.  Focus on getting a seat with the highest height/weight limits for rear facing.  Kids are safest rear facing as long as possible (well past the legal "1 year and 20 pounds" requirement).  If you're not familiar, google about ERF and internal decapitation because the information is very compelling.

  • We bought a Britax for my car, since it's the "main" car. Then we bought an inexpensive ($80) Safety First Guide 65 Sport for my hubs' truck.

My Mom bought her own car seat (she's our babysitter), but if she hadn't, we would have bought another inexpensive seat for her car. If we go out of town, we take my car with the Britax. The other two cars are mostly just for driving locally.

This has worked well for us. I think it would be a good option for you, since you have to buy three!

Remember, a Britax is a great seat with many bells and whistles... but all seats have to pass the same safety standards before they are sold to consumers. :)

We have this one. I didn't want to spend a ton and I wanted something with good reviews, that would be comfortable since we plan to do extended rear facing again. We love it and so does my two year old. We will get Asher the same one when it's time.

ETA: What's awesome about this seat is you do not have to re thread the straps, it's adjustable in the back.

  • We have the Evenflo Triumph 65 and have no complaints. It was about $150 at BRU.
