I'm feeling like a lazy mom! Call it blog-depression or something...
I'm planning DD#2's 2nd birthday party with family back home and while I have a great theme (pinwheels), I have yet to buy decorations (which I am getting them from walmart...not the cute stationary places online) and I did not do invites- I called all my family. I'm just thinking of a few hor d' oeurves (its from 3-5), I'll bake a cake and have ice cream (so no cake balls, pinwheel shaped cookies from the local bakery, or individually wrapped sandwhiches...)
I enjoy entertaining, but I feel so cornered- DH doesn't care for all the fan fare, we're building a house so money is tight and out the rest of my family with small kids, I'm the only one without any other thought but to have some cartoon character plastered all over every wall and napkin. (sorry to those who do...)
I guess I feel like I'm in the middle between the ultra-cute, perfect smile domestic divas and the average slouch... I feel like DD#2 getting less than her sister (DD#1 at least got fondont butterflies on her cake last year- I could try and hope my pinwheel creations don't look like swastikas...)
Oh real world moms- please help! Am I missing the boat by not doing all the big stuff for the kids parties since when they are older, family may pay less attention to their parties or do I try and start doing the good stuff when they are, like 4-5 when they start having kid parties and I'll invite more ppl? What do you guys do- and please let me know how old are your kids and do you try to do the same level of detail for each?

Don't worry about it! They don't care! I was all excited to DSs birthday because we are back home again and family can come. But those who are coming won't appreciate the hard work. And DS will never know...
Simple is just fine!! Just take pictures
poor second kids get fewer pictures!
And food luck with the pinwheels, a swastika would look bad!
This! I had a hard time dealing with the fact that DD#2's first birthday wasn't a big bash like her sister's first birthday. I even had a joint birthday for the two of them because they're both July and money is really tight for us so we just couldn't do two or anything huge. It was tough for a while, I felt guilty for some time, but I really do feel bad that I didn't get any pictures. With two kids to worry about and a party to put on, I didn't get one photo. I am still waiting for my mom to send me some pictures that I know she took. I am a horrible mom!! So bad. At least I did get some pictures of her smashing her first cupcake at a little birthday celebration we had for her at my sister-in-law's house.
