So LO is still getting up every hour at night and not napping at all ( I don't consider 15 min a nap) during the day. He is so easily distracted and not eating very well either. I am exhausted! He also needs to be entertained when held because he is easily bored and fussy right now. Anyway, LO laughed for the first time today. Not just a little 'he' but a laugh... "hehehe!" It was so worth it...It so amazing to see all of the developmental changes happening right before my eyes!
He's doing so much that he wasn't unable to do last week (too much to mention). He even pinched me with his fingers. 2 weeks ago his hands were still in a fist....I am blown away.
What new developments did you notice in your LO?
Re: The light of my day...
Playing peekaboo with her actually works now too, she looks startled when we first say "boo!" then smiles at us.. Everytime!
I can't believe it's been 3 months already.
So sweet! Laughs are the best. They definitely make the sleep dreprivation tolerable. DD is rolling a lot more. At first it took her a long time to work up the energy & momentum to roll. Yesterday I put her on her tummy on her playmat, turned around to put something away, and when I turned back she was on her back, smiling and 'talking'.
Congrats! I bet it sounded even better than his dream-laughs!
We're still waiting for a real laugh, I can't wait to hear it!
Yay! Laughs definitely make not sleeping tolerable. I can't help but, when LO is up at 4 am and talks to me, to find it cute!
She learned to use a rattle yesterday and used both hands to bring it to her mouth.
She is making so many new sounds it is amazing.
I just wish she would get some sleep!
I can't wait for DD to laugh... Sometimes I think she's so close, but sometimes it seems like she never will.
But like your LO, she picked up a ton of new behaviors over a very short period of time. I think that's been really contributing to her wakefulness at night and the WW fussiness; she learned some new sounds, figured out that she likes to 'stand' and 'jump' (before this she used to flip out if we tried to put weight on her legs. I guess she just didn't feel ready then), is getting better at sitting, and is learning to coordinate both hands to grasp better and drag things into her mouth. She's also rolled tummy-back a couple of times and is trying to do back-tummy, although she can only get to her side on that one. All of this within a span of just a few days! It's cool to watch her acquire new skills, but I can't wait to get my happy properly-sleeping baby back!
As for new developments, well, she's sleeping through the night, at least most nights, AND we have bedtime down! This is amazingness! Now, we just need to work on nap time. She doesn't usually nap during the day AT ALL!
I'm the same way..when LO gets up at 4am and has trouble falling asleep, I try not to encourage it, but it so hard to see his eyes staring at me, talking to and smiling, that I cant help to smile back...its really cute!
My little guy is doing a lot more now too. He started smacking his lips, laughing, and scooting himself around the crib! I love all the new things he does and I keep notes in his baby book.
Drbeth, I hope your little guy gives you some rest soon!
