Just wondering what you diabetic mommies get when you're craving fast food, if anything? The things I've found don't affect my blood sugar too much (that I crave CONSTANTLY) are the crunchy chicken tacos from Jimboy's and a few slices of the "Delite" pizza from Papa Murphy's. I try to eat really healthy and make homecooked meals every night, but hey, I AM pregnant and sometimes I just crave things! I'd kill for some peanut butter chocolate ice cream though!
Anyone else have any go-to foods that don't shoot up their levels?
Re: Low Carb Fast Food/Takeout?
That all sounds great! I haven't even thought to try Subway, I just assumed the bread would do me in! I just looked up the nutritional info, it IS doable! Thanks for the tip, I miss sandwiches.

Oh man, I haven't attempted a burger yet, but I'm dying for one! My problem is I NEED fries with a burger, and from what I've discovered so far, potatoes don't sit well with my blood sugar.

I LOVE sweet potato fries! I just looked up the carb content for the Carl's Jr ones, they have 20g MORE carbs than their normal fries!

Thanks for the tip! I'm not familiar with managing my diet through diabetic exchange (just carb counting), but I plan to ask about it at my next Sweet Success appointment. I actually had Taco Bell for lunch today, but I guess I didn't choose wisely, my numbers were not great.

I totally forgot about the Fajita Pita! I used to get that all the time when I was doing Weight Watchers back in the day.

15 carbs 1 starch. They have theirs listed in terms of starches, so it's pretty easy to figure out.

I have been able to indulge in a 6" Turkey sub on wheat bread from Subway. This is such a blessing for me (as I see many of the PPs can't do Subway) because I can load up with a lot of spinach and other veggies. Plus, I have had a "thing" for banana peppers and tubs of mustard...
Alas, I felt very "safe" eating these because they didn't mess with my readings so I was pretty much eating them for lunch every work day and now I'm burnt out on them.
I went today to ChikFilA (I've never been a fan... I don't like their sandwiches and I think they are too too pricey, especially for the amount of food you get. /mini rant) and got their 8 pc chicken nuggets: 11g carbs, 28g protein. I got the small order of fries: 37g of carbs. I was cognizant of the high carbs there, so I acted "picky" and only ate the ones that "looked realllllllly good". Plus, I got one of their side salads, which are surprisingly good. I laughed at the lone piece of broccoli in there.
Anyway, 2hrs later, my reading was 101! (Which was so great to see!! I had a horrible day yesterday...) Sidenote: I was surprised that they had Caffeine free Diet Coke there and I scooped me up one of those too! So CFA gets an A+ in my book today!
I think Taco Bueno is a Texas only chain (maybe?), but I go there and get three of their Party (crispy) Tacos: 5g of carbs, 7g protein (per taco).
6piece chicken nuggets from mcD's
8piece chicken nuggets from Chik filA and side salad
orange chicken and veggies from Panda Express
I'm about to try Taco bell (just sent DH after reading this post) so I will get back to you

Great suggestions! My problem is if I go to McDonald's, I NEED french fries! And if I go to Panda Express, I want fried rice! Sigh!
I DID try Burger King the other day (I got a cheeseburger and onion rings, didn't eat all the rings and didn't finish the bun), and it actually didn't give me a bad reading!

Well you're luckier than me- I can't have any pizza.
You can try breyer's carb smart chocolate ice cream and some peanut butter
for fast food, I can do arbys without the bun and a side salad with water.
sometimes I can do some chicken strips

I wish I was committed enough to order a burger with no bun, but I'd rather just avoid it all together. If I can't have it the way it's made, I don't want it at all! I might change my mind the more desperate I get for a burger, haha...

I do McDs and I have to have fries too..what I do is order a burger and fries, and then ditch the bun from the burger..that way I get the protein from the meat and that helps to counteract the carbs from the fries..it's always worked well for my #s so you might consider trying it that way
**edit**I just read your response that is just above my comment (i didn't read the whole post before I responded)...I guess I have no problem going bunless cause I don't really like hamburger buns anyway, but you gotta do what works for you..maybe try a happy meal? you only get a tiny order of fries plus some apple slices you could save for a snack later

At Red Robin you can get a lettuce bun and their gluten free buns have less carbs.
