Sleep easy solution is working!

We started the Sleep Easy Solution on Thursday night. It's a modified Ferber check ins every 3, 5, 10 minutes and I modified it a little more by replacing her paci and patting her back a few times each check in. [the book says no touching] well the first night she cried for 26 minutes, last night was 21 minutes, today's afternoon nap was 20 minutes and tonight she only cries for 3 MINUTES!!! She still wakes up a few times at night but I don't mind feeding her and all but one wake up she has gone right back to sleep. The one wake up was 30 minutes of fussing [no crying] and 2am the first night. Anyway... I know "cry it out" isn't for everyone and I thought I'd never do it but I was at the end of my rope and I also don't really believe this is true "CIO" let me know if you have any questions or need encouragement! [sorry for wall of text: on my phone]

  • This is great:)  Ferber etc. is so not the devil.  I know in the very beginning with newbs most Mums couldn't imagine letting their baby cry (at some point in the future) and that's a normal feeling, but at this point 5 months and onwards it's so worth it - those few minutes of crying leads to good sleep habits which will set them up for life.  I truly believe this.  Glad it's working for you guys:)

  • I am also seeing she has learned to put herself back asleep. She stirred a few times and opened her eyes but went back to sleep with minimal noise! Also she Just slept her longest stretch in weeks!!! 6.5 hours!!!!

  • Glad you've had success so far! I've been reading the Easy Sleep Solution and if my LO doesn't figure out her whole sleeping craziness in the next few weeks, I may use this method but I'm scared! This is encouraging though!

  • I have a question.  My issue with DD is not going to sleep per se, it's STAYING asleep for naps.  She is great at night, but naps...I'm still stuck at the 30 minute mark.  This is weird, she'll take long, nice naps at Daycare, but won't at home!  She will literally take three or four half hour naps at home and it's disasterous.

Does the solution mention early wakings for naps?

    Anyone else have suggestions?

    I've tried:

    1. Letting her wiggle in her crib (for an excess of 40 minutes) no cigar.

    2. Putting her to bed earlier and later (tried both)

    3. Replacing paci and shushing when she starts to stir (this worked once)

    4. Darkening the room

    5. White noise

    6. Having the room warmer or colder

    7. Giving her a lovie/blanket

aaaaand she still wakes up and stays up.

We have the same issue. I think it's something about this ago because I feel like everyone on here is saying the same thing lately! The one thing that I do if she NEEDS a long nap is wait by her crib around the 30 minute mark and when she stirs even the tiniest bit I pick her up and rock her a little. Also, I have started letting her cry before naps a few times and she is sleeping better for those naps, so maybe she just needs to get some energy out! Thr book mainly suggests leaving them in Thr crib for at least an hour from when they fall asleep and eventually they get the idea that  they are supposed to be sleeping that whole time....
