Penile Adhesion Question

So last night we noticed DS's penis looked different. I took him to the ped and was told as I suspected he had a penile adhesion and that we need to carefully clean with each diaper and pull back after baths. I got a percription for an antibiotic gel to put in it. Does anyone have experience with this? I know they are fairly common but it still has me freaking out a bit...

    That happened with my son and we just had to make sure that at every diaper change we put vaseline on it to keep it from sticking again.  It healed just fine.

    My DS has adhesions in several places. The pedi tore it on accident when checking it. I can't pull it any further with out  tearing it. I am bringing it up at his 1 year apply.

    My DS was like this too. Everytime I ask our pedi about it she says it looks fine and will open back up in adolescents or at some point. I've asked several times and she always says it looks fine. But I worry about it a lot.

    Exactly!!! I am so glad I am not alone in this! I feel so bad and I'm afraid by pulling back on it after a bath I am going to hurt him.

    We had a terrible experience with this, as I didn't realize it had adhered, but thought something looked different.  I asked at the dr apt, and without any warning, he basically tore the adhesion intentionally.  I was so completely upset, as my newborn was in pain!  There had been some white stuff that got in the adhesion (not sure if it was diaper cream or not) and he cleaned it up.  I was extra careful to pull the skin back after baths, etc.  Now at 17 months, if I even touch his area to clean after a bath, he freaks out.  It sounds like you caught things earlier and will do just fine!  I have talked to several friends with little boys that have gone through this.  I guess it's pretty common, but something I'd never heard of!  I don't even remember anyone telling me to pull back the skin to prevent this- that would have been valuable information!  You're doing everything you should be doing!  I've also heard that it will correct itself eventually as the skin grows and stretches.
