I would think you should put it up out of the sun and in a dry place. I don't know where you are from but here you don't leave anything outside that will hold water because it's breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Plus if you leave it out all winter, it could get sun damaged.
We leave ours out on the backyard patio, but because of mosquitos we tip it over to make sure all excess water has been drained. We don't plan on moving it indoors though only because the only place we could put it would be our garage, & I use my garage as it's intended use not for storage.

We had ours outside for a while. I washed it up and it is now inside filled with rice and ball pit balls. DD loves the variety of things we can do with the table.

Nothing under it, I just vacuum up the rice if she gets it on the floor (happened in the beginning but now she mostly keeps it in the table. Beans would also work, we might switch out to those. She has measuring spoons, bowls and a couple little loaf pans in the table too.
