I don't think this is one of those items you can really go wrong with. In the end, it's just a toy. Pick one you think is cute and check it off your list.
Exactly. I wouldn't spend a ton on this either. It's a piece of fabric with plastic toys hanging down from it.
I had a fischer price one with lights and played music.. DD would lay down under it and stare at the lights all day if i let her!! It was definatly worth it for me to have because she did not love the bouncy seat until a few months old but loved the gym from the start!
i also didnt want to spend ton so i got infantino twist and fold gym. if u want a real good one then skip hop tree top is a very good gym.
This is the one we have and purchased from Barnes and Noble. I like this one because we're avoiding plastic toys, and the most of the toys on this gym is fabric and plush. LO loves it.
We started with the infantino twist and fold and later bought the FP kick and play piano. I wish we had started with the piano. You get the dangly toys to start with but it grows with the baby longer than a standard gym because it can be adjusted for sitters and more mobile kids to still play with it.
We have the FP Kick and Play Piano. Right now DS loves to look at himself in the mirror. DS was on the mat tonight during dinner, and DH commented about how nice it was that we were able to finish a meal before DS got crabby.

We have this one. LO loves it and it's easy to switch out the toys. I bought some longer ones when he was very little and now he can reach the toys that came with it. He loves the mirror, and it also came with a little pillow.
If you really want something musical, the kick n play piano is sold separate from the whole playmat set.

I have the tiny love gym and its so amazing!
Has a pillow for when he was too little for regular tummy time
has a device that plays music-for when older and younger
and many toys to play with
along with a lot of things on the actual mat to play with
