IRL I will tell some people about stories/situations on here. Sometimes I feel embarrassed though like they think you guys are all imaginary. KWIM. MH gets it though because he is involved in a couple online forums.
I know exactly what you mean! MH doesn't even really get it sometimes... When there was talk of a Phili area Oct 11 moms meet up, MH told me that I was seriously insane for wanting to go.

I get it...I have to stop myself sometimes before I tell people I am taking my child to go meet people from an online forum...I just call it a meet-up group. Truthfully I feel like I know a lot of you better than my IRL friends. Between moving around a lot and having no friends with kids, you all are the only ones that can relate most of the time.
I don't post a whole lot but I've been on the board since my BFP and I catch myself talking about a lot of stuff from threads on here. DH thinks I'm crazy and is thankful that no one lives close enough for a GTG even though I really, really want to meet up with some Oct. bumpies!

So true, IRL I just say I have a friend, or this girl I know when referencing the bump. It's sometimes too awkward or takes too much time to explain. I did just come out of the bump closet to a friend...I think she could use a forum like this in her life

DH thinks I'm crazy sometimes. He will question something regarding Nora, so I correct him saying, " TB ladies said this, this, and this." Or I will tell him a funny post, and he will just give me the side eye.

When I was showing pics of the recent GTG to my parents I had to explain the whole bump website, and not sure if they understood. Anyway, DH was skeptical at first (told me to pack pepper spray for kidnappers) but he understands that I have 'known' most of you since my BFP. Also, when he saw pics of the GTG he was so touched at how awesome J got to play with some kids his own age. He was wondering when I would meet up again, so J can play.
I belong to an IRL moms group so I vaguely refer to bumpies as girls in my moms group. The funny thing is that it's just as easy to join the IRL group as it is here but it's less weird I guess because they supposedly live near me?

I do this too. I feel that explanation goes over better than trying to explain the strange world that is The Bump.
I do too. Much easier and faster than explaining the truth. I need to come clean to a few people soon though because I'm starting to have too many "friends" with babies that are Oliver's age.
The ladies in my mom's group always ask me the questions they have because I always have an answer - from something I've read on here. I've mentioned the bump to them before, but it just feels like I'd get the side-eye if I explained all about it.

I usually do this. I will say "this friend I know said blah, blah, blah" and I will get into the store and they will ask me her name. Then I have to say it's online. I always feel so weird!
Penny is right... it does sort of feel like an imaginary friend.
I totally agree with everything that you guys said. When I was supposed to meet Elsa1984 the first time, DH was really skeptical. When it fell through, I think that he was relieved. The second time when we arranged a meet, he thought it was super cool, especially after seeing the pictures.
I belong to several social forums and when I mention stuff, people look at me like I have two heads. They either don't get message boards or they think the members are going to hunt me down and murder me.
I've met up with a few online people (including RoxRing) and have never even sustained a paper cut!
