Clickly Poll: Does your LO STTN?

Not once or twice. I mean STTN consistently. My little guy doesn't and I'm curious about how many other ladies are in the same boat.

  • Two weeks ago we had 3 blissful nights of 6 hours in a row. Now we're back to a 3 hour 'long' stretch

  • Nope.  Her long stretch is from 8-1sometimes but then she's up every 3.5ish.  But she's really good about going back to sleep so I don't really have any complaints

Wow so jealous!!! We have no long stretches. He does every 2 hours all night and all day or every 1.5 hours on a fussy day. This is a good poll because I was starting to feel like everyone else's babies sleep lots.

For the most part, my LO is good at going back to sleep too. I would love longer stretches of sleep though. Can't wait for that day to come!

  • I get from 8pm to anywhere between 2-4, then up again 5-6, then pretty much up for the day around 7. I'm beginning to think he is an early bird and just can't be out down after 7am. But I guess it works out better for when I go back to work.

  • Nope, but we're fine with it and have no plans to sleep train. He is EBF on demand and a bit of a snacker so he's legitimately hungry when he wakes. He usually sleeps a stretch of 5-6 hours, then either 2 3-hour stretches or 3 2-hour stretches. He either sleeps next to our bed so I get to him before he fully wakes, nurse, and have him back in bed without his eyes opening most of the time, or sleeps next to me in bed and nurses side-lying while we both doze. I SAH though so don't need to be up by a certain time in the morning.

  • She's done 5 hours here and there, but since she goes to bed around 7 I don't really consider her waking up at midnight as sleeping through the night (that 5 hour thing really doesn't make sense to me! Unless LO goes to bed at midnight, and I don't think most do...). Still, we have only had 1 night of her waking up just once and a couple of nights of her waking up only twice. I waited and waited for her to give me longer stretches, but it never happened. I EBF, so I know that that might be a part of it, but now that she's going through the wakeful and waking up every 1.5/2 hours, I miss what we had!

  • unfortunately no. He wakes up 1-2x a night depending on if he got a nap the day before. This is definitely hard because since I'm pregnant again I'm super tired (yet have partial insomnia as well) and DH works 12 hour shifts overnight then sleeps when he first gets home. Luckily DS1 is in school so whenever LO naps I take one too! LOL

  • I voted NO, but I think DS is close, or meets the technical definition since he can sleep 5-6 hours at a stretch. He just doesn't always do it consistently nor at the times that coincide with my "night." We typically put him down around 8, and he wakes up around 10 to nurse. Some nights, like the night before last, he'll wake up again around 2/3 to nurse, and then again at 5:30. Last night he skipped that 2 AM feeding and slept from 10 to  4:30. I really don't mind either way - I mean, I miss the sleep, but I like the night nursing since I work full time and enjoy the extra bonding time.

This is us exactly ....no sttn in our house. Every 1.5-2 hours. ugh.

  • Nope. She still wakes up anywhere from 4-6 and sometimes 8 times a night to eat/snack. She rarely sleeps at all actually... naptimes during the day are pretty much nonexistent. She eats every 1-1.5 hours too, so I never really get a break.

  • My DD is all over the map.  She was sleeping 6-8 hour stretches, but lately she's usually up every 1-3 hours.  It hasn't been fun.  I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks and I'm worried about how I'm going to function if she keeps this up.

  • My lil diva's sleep depends on where she's sleeping.  I learned early on that she did not like her newborn napper in her pack n play.  If she's in her swing (not swinging, just in her swing) she will sleep for 8-9 straight hours.  However, because she will very soon outgrow her swing, I purchased a rock n play.  (We went away last week to a rented beach house with family and I didn't want her in her pnp knowing that she wouldn't sleep well). In her rnp, she will have a 4-5 stretch, if I'm lucky.  Lately though, she is so alert and active, I'm having issues getting her to bed.  She wants to "chit chat" with me and calming her down isn't as easy at it used to be. I'm also beginning to transition her to her crib by putting in there for her mid-afternoon nap.

  • Depends what you mean by STTN. Going by what the "experts" say is sleeping through the night (5 hour stretch or longer), then yes. If you mean not waking up during the night then no.

She goes to bed about 9 and gets up at 3 or 4 to eat. She goes back to sleep within 20 minutes and then sleeps until 7 or 7:30.

  • yup been STTN since 3 weeks old.
  • Nope. The best we ever got was a 10 hour stretch, but that only happened once. He used to give us 6-8 hour stretches every night, but 2 1/2 weeks ago busted out of his swaddle and my husband decided it was no longer safe to swaddle him. So now we're back to the same 3-4 hour stretches we got in the first weeks after he was born, and are lucky if we can get 5. And this happened right before I went back to work, of course. He's had a cold this week, so one night this last week he woke up every 2 hours :(

I can't say it's a huge deal, since he tends to fall asleep pretty quickly from nursing. But I miss the 6-8 hour stretches, and am looking forward to when he goes back to that.

  • She does but I'm saying it's my reward for surviving my first child. lol My first was up every 2-3 hours until we sleep trained at 6 months old AND it usually took us like 45 minutes just to get her back down after she woke up. It.was. hell.

  • Yes. She has slept through the night since about 4 weeks. :) Had a few bad nights where she would wake up and need to eat, but that was because she didn't finish her bottle before bed.
