LO is almost 3 months. About a month ago her daytime naps went from 2-3 hours to about 45 min (1 sleep cycle). I wanted her to get longer naps so I started going in and laying on the bed and nursing her back to sleep. I want her to be able to get two consecutive sleep cycles for her naps. Any tips on how I can get her to do that without having to back to nurse her down? The room is pretty dark, although we could make it darker. Thoughts?
Re: Getting longer naps?
My baby is 4 months and we have been going through this for the last few weeks. There are a couple good suggestions in the No Cry Nap Solution book, but they do utilize parent involvement. Instead of nursing, can you shush your baby back to sleep, or pat her back, or some other way that does not involve nursing?
Also, are you using white noise? Have you tried putting the baby in a swing to nap? I know mine naps a lot longer in his swing versus the crib.
DD is 7 months and only very rarely ever naps longer than one sleep cycle. My cousin's baby hardly naps at all during the day (but STTN) so I just assume that all babies are different.
Also be aware if the 4 month wakeful and how that will completely change your baby's sleep habits.
This exactly.
I think it's fairly normal for babies that age to only take shorter, but more frequent, naps.
