Is it possible for a baby to eat (BF) too much?  DS has pretty much eating all night and tends to cluster feed. A lot of the time he'll BF for 45 minutes at a time.  Sometimes he only snacks for 10-15 minutes. During the longer sessions he tends to doze off while eating but wakes up and keeps sucking.
He weighed 7lbs even at birth and was up to 7lbs, 7oz when he was 8 days old.  Weight gain has definitely not been a problem. We haven't had our first pedi appt yet.
So do babies self-regulate and quit eating when they're full? I'd hate to let him eat too much and give him an upset tummy.  Thanks for answering this FTM question!
Re: eating too much?
Your body won't give your baby more than he needs. They'll work it out together.
DS was a great nurser, big on comfort nursing, and gained weight quickly. He had so many rolls- 91st percentile! One Dr. told me he was going to be obese if he kept it up but I'd been told the above by several LCs and by my own research, so I didn't change anything. Sure enough he is in 25% for weight now: the curve for breastfed babies is to gain quickly before they are active, then for the weight gain to slow quite a bit.
