Did/do you like school?

I'm being a PW today I suppose.

Anyway I was just thinking about this. I loved being at university, I really look back at it as one of the most enjoyable "life periods" for me. Of course I was lucky that I didn't have to pay for it due to the free education for all in ireland, so there wasn't that financial stress, but I really just enjoyed the learning process, the flex schedule etc. In a way I wish I could become a student again, except without the poor ness usually involved.

I think one of the sucky things about the US is how it can be really hard to make a career change/go back to school due to the expense often involved.

So just wondering... If finances were not an issue and you could just go back to school, would you? And what would you study? And if you are in school right now, do you like it and what are you studying?

  • I miss school terribly. R just went back, and I am so jealous. After he finishes his masters, the plan is for me to go back and I cannot wait!
  • If I were to go back it would make sense for me to get a masters in computer science or something, but yawnfest! I'd rather go back and spend my days taking classes in english lit, philosophy and art, writing essays and painting pictures, then picking up my free weekly sack o cash and spending the rest of my time with my family :D

Please tell me where I can go live and have this ^ happen? Lol

  • is "womens studies" still a thing?  i bet it has a new name now.  if i were to go back in order to gain knowledge, that's what i'd do.

however, i was a political science major and as i was leaving, they got a new concentration in municipal studies.  i'd love to have been able to take the classes they were going to offer.  i just had a few and they were awesome.

  • HATED it. All of it. However, I would love to go back to be an engineer or something, but only if I could just take engineering related classes. Even then, I would still hate it.

  • I started college right out of high school and I wasn't ready.  When I went back to school I really enjoyed.  I definitely would go back.  I was even thinking today that I should take a couple of classes next semester at the community college.

  • I love school. I loved high school, college, and grad school. Except for grad school, I was always involved with the school, which I think made it even more enjoyable.

  • I am supreme nerd so of course I heart school. Bachelors was super fun because of the social aspect, grad was amazing for the book learning. Id love to get my Psy.d in clinical psychology, but with all the loans I currently owe, that ain't happening. Maybe when C goes to college, then we can be dorm buddies : l

  • I love school. I loved high school and I'm in my second year of college. In high school I took college classes for dual credit at our local community college so when I was pg with Finlee last semester I was able to take two online classes and not get behind. I'm currently taking pre-reqs for nursing school, which I will attend in the fall of 2013. I wish I had the time/effort to become a doctor. I talked to someone the other day who went to medical school at age 40, so maybe there's a little hope for me. Smile
  • No,  never liked school. I should go back for my Masters but I just don't have the motivation. I'm working on a certification for work right now and that's plenty for me.

  • I loved school. I actually did go back for a career change to become a teacher. I told myself i was never going to go back again then I went back for a reading endorsement and now I want an ESOL endorsement. I just love learning
  • I LOVE school! I went back to grad school ten years after college, and I should finish this May. It's a dual degree program. I'll get a MS in Conservation Biology and a MPP in Environmental Policy. I love that my job is to learn cool stuff all day long (and to teach it once a week). I would stay in school forever if I could justify/afford it.

  • I love school. I'm currently pursuing a degree in psychology with a cognate in christian counseling. My husband was diagnosed with extreme PTSD while he was in the military, and seeing how many suffer from it and other mental health issues sparked something in me. Some of the things that I have learned about the brain and how experiences truly effect people fascinates me.

  • I loooooved school. I want to go back for my Phd sometime, probably in like 10 years when my kids are older. Undergrad was okay, but I really loved my MFA program.

  • I enjoy learning, but I hated the social atmosphere of school until college. I was the stereotypical nerd: socially awkward, the one people only talk to if they want the answer. Graduate school was fun in a challenging way; I don't really have any farther to go except postdoc work, and I just don't want to deal with the loans. But if I could, I'd take a ton of history classes, just for fun.

  • I love school!  I'm sad that I have no where else to go with it.  If I didn't have loans to repay, I'd keep doing different residencies study other specialties too.  If I had to go back and do something other then medicine, I'd choose psychology which was my area of focus in undergrad.  I love psychology too.
