Best Grandma Car Seat?

My mother often cares for my DD and my niece at the same time. My DD is a bit over 16 months and my niece is 18 months. We have the Evenflo Symphony 65 e3 and really like that but I'm wondering about other seats as well.

What are the best seats for easily moving in and out of a car? My mom won't want to drive around with the seats installed unless she has the girls with her. Also, I need someting that will RF for my DD.

Thoughts?

  • I've heard the Cosco Scenera recommended a lot for an occasional use seat. It's only about $50, but still safe and can RF or FF.

This is what I was going to suggest as well.

  • I was going to suggest the same as previous posters though I have no experience with it myself, if she doesn't want it in there all the time I've heard the Cosco is fairly easy to handle and lighter than others.

  • We have the Scenera for DH's car and it's a PITA to install.  I've heard from lots of people who have had the same issue - need to use towels or pool noodles so I wouldn't suggest it if it's a seat that's going to be in and out a lot.

  • We have a cheap evenflo model, I can't remember the name, but it was about 40 at walmart. FF or RF, and easy to install. I have flown with it twice too. Lightweight is what I like about it.

Exactly this. It sucks installing this seat every time my mom watched DD. I hate it and wish I'd never bought it. Spend a little more money and get a better seat.

I'll 3rd this and add. The FF install's pretty easy but the RF install sucks. We eventually gave up on it and now he (only) rides FF in Grammy's car. It is cheap though.

  • We just bought my mother in law the Evenflo Tribute and we love it. It's really easy to install and it's comfortable rear facing for my 14 month old. We actually bought 2, one for my mother in law and one for our second vehicle. It is only $60 which is a plus!
