How much fluid r u drinking?

Hey ladies, i was wondering:

-How much water do you drink each day?

-Do you count other fluids like juices, soft drinks, milk, etc to your total fluid intake?

I hate plain water so i drink it with a splash of lemonade. Would this count?

My doctors never brought this water intake, but i know it is recommended to drink x amount per day, and now that i went on bedrest i think i should take my water inake seriously.

Your response is appreciated!

Re: How much fluid r u drinking?

  • I drink at least 64 ounces a day (so like 10 plus glasses)

At work I just have a giant water bottle (holds 32 ounces) that I just fill with water a couple times, then at home I drink mostly perrier or perrier mixed with juice.

Yes water with a little lemonade counts (but you need to think about how much lemanade you're putting in there. (sugar intake too)

Also a lot of fruits and veggies contain a lot of water too (cucumber, celery, even apples..)

  • I drink about 100 fl oz of water a day!

  • I have a 64 oz. jug I drink while at work.  At home I will drink another 2 bottles of water.  That's like 97.6 oz a day.  I can only drink water because I have gestational diabetes.
  • I try to drink two 1.5 liter bottles of water a day...so that's about 100 oz!

  • My midwife said only water counts (not juices, soft drinks, milk, etc).  Adding a splash of something to water would probably still count.

I honestly drink less than 1 cup of water on average per day (4 oz).  Some days I drink NO water - in fact probably 75% of my pregnancy I've had no water.  Bad, I know, but I hate water.  If I feel crampy I drink more of it, and now and then I'll crave it and drink probably 12-15 oz in a day.  I've never been a big water drinker, but I also have had uncomplicated pregnancies.  I also wonder if people gain so much extra weight in pregnancy b/c they are all the sudden upping their fluid intake SO much.  I usually drink about 1/2 cup of orange juice in the morning, probably 1-2 cups of milk a day and that's it.

However during labor I do make sure to take a sip of water after every contraction.

  • I was doing 64ozs but its not enough.. so I am up to 100+.

  • I drink at least 4 bottles (16.9 oz) of water a day...so at least 64 oz a day.  I don't drink any other fluids (I don't buy juice, and I don't like milk other than in my cereal), but I do eat fruit, so I know I get a little from that, too.  I'm just trying to drink as much as I can.
  • I drink so much water I'm basically just filtering it. Call me "Britta!"

  • At least 80 ounces of water. 1 glass of OJ in the morning and 2 cups of 1/2 caff coffee a day.

In my 1st tri, water made me nauseous so I drank cranberry juice and packed on the lbs. Then I did 1/2 water 1/2 cranberry, then just a splash. Now I'm all water. Can't get enough and of course I pee 1-2 times an hour now.

  • I try to drink 64-80 oz of water a day, but I also count things like juice, etc as my intake if I'm a little short on water. My MW recommended 10-12 glasses of water a day.

  • My doctor suggested 2 liters per day minimum, so I really do try to drink at least that much straight up water. If I'm feeling sick I'll drink some sprite or ginger-ale, also OJ, apple juice, soups, fruits and veggies all add to my intake. BeerBig Smile

  • All i drink is water but it has to be in my sweat proof tumble cup with straw and there has to be ice all the way to top every refill from my brita filter. I never liked water either but everything else i drank this pregnancy made me feel sick. Im not sure of the number of oz i drink in a day but i do refill my tumble cup of ice and water at least twice am hour.
  • You should drink half your body weight in ounces of water a day. So, if you weigh 100 lbs, you should drink 50 oz of water a day. this is not to be added or subtracted wtih juice. I drink 5 24 oz bottles a day of just water.
  • I drink over 13 glasses of water a day. just bec ive always have been a big water drinker. 8 glasses is recommended. but you can count fruits and veggies as a lil bit of water because there is small amounts of water in them. I personally have trouble with drinking milk but some how I get 3 glasses in a day which is good for me

  • From 7:30 - 3:30, I know I drink 2 liters of water.  I like ice cold water, so I put 2 bottles in the freezer before bed.  When I get to work I put one in the frig.  By lunch time I'm ready for the next one.

When I get home I'm tired of water.  I drink fruit juice (which I water down), caffeine free soda, and slightly sweetened iced tea.   That's probably another 1.5 to 2 liters.

    I'm ALWAYS thirsty.

  • I prefer to drink 72-100 oz of water each day.

Since school started I am having a hard time getting enough water in.  I fill my 24 oz water bottle before school and I usually don't refill it again until I get home, so most days I'm barely hitting 64 oz.

I don't count anything carbonated or caffeinated in my fluid intake.  Both carbonation and caffeine dehydrate you.  I do drink both, but I aim to drink 72-100 oz of water only each day.

  • I can't stand plain water so I was drinking Crystal Light Lemonade up until a few weeks ago when the nurse who was monitoring my NST told me they would really prefer if I switched to just water with nothing added.  She wanted me to have ten glasses of water a day plus any additional hydrating fluids I wanted.  I'm up to maybe three or four 16 oz bottles of water a day, and I still hate it.
