I'm really in love with the name Lucas for DS2 and think Carter and Lucas fit well together, but our last name is Schmitt (different spelling). Do you think the "S's" at the end and beginning are too much?
I think it sounds fine. The "s" sound is different in Lucas than in Schmitt. "sss" vs "sh", does that make sense? If it was the same sound I'd probably look for a different name but to me the "s" sound is clearly different.
Plus, if he goes by Luke at all it's a total non-issue.
I love the name Lucas! I do think that the two Ss together will be weird to say, though. I think it all runs together. My first name and maiden name had a similar issue and it always bothered me when I had to say my first and last names together outloud.

This is what I am afraid of. DH thinks it sounds fine but I keep rethinking it.
The other name we have picked out is Matthew, but I think it might be to plain next to Carter if that makes sense.
Lucas is our front runner for a boy too! I think it flows fine. There is enough of a stop between the two s's so they don't run together. Will you mostly call him Lucas or Luke?
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
I like the name - maybe because it's Nate's middle name and my husband's name? - and I think it sounds fine with your last name. I could see it being an issue if your child has a speech problem, but then a lot of things will be an issue to say, so oh well. I think it's a great name!

Probably Luke but my mom and grandparents will most likely call him Lucas. So he'll get both. We would go ith just Luke but DH likes Lucas better.
Re: Silly name question
Love Lucas.

You know, the more I think about this the more I think you are going to get mixed opinions.
It's really going to come down to how a person unounciates(sp?), if they have an accent, or something like a lisp like letranger mentioned.
FWIW, I like Lucas much more than Matthew.
