Jogging Strollers Xp

I am looking to get a jogging stroller while my oldest is in school. We have a double stroller, but I want one I can run with and only take my youngest. Anyone have suggestions? I have been looking at a BOB, but I want to hear from someone before I spend that kind of money.

  • I have an InStep jogger, and I love it! It's a lot cheaper in price than many of the joggers, and it works just as well. It also has cup holders for baby and mommy, adjustable handles, and it folds easy. My girlfriend got the same one even!

  • I got the BOB sport utility (big wheels, but front wheel doesn't turn - very stable but can't do sharp corners). It has been great on trails around our house. Even the roads around my neighborhood are bumpy so it helps. Easy to push, hand brake, good canopy for sun, basket under the seat for holding water, bottle, etc. No cupholders though... you'd need to by a special add-on for that.
  • Btw, I sometimes see jogging strollers on craiglist for a fraction of the price... maybe there's a good deal out there for you. GL!
  • I love my BOB revolution.

  • I <3 my phil & teds. You can do single, or double if you need to. plus every part is sold separtely on their site incase you break something and need it replaced.

P.S. mine is 5 years old and was abused via a friend that used it w/o a car. I replaced the tire tubing on the wheels to have fresh traction and everything still works awesome.

  • How much are you planning on jogging?  If you are running a lot, it would be wise to invest in a BOB.  I have a BOB SE (has the large wheels, and with swivel function in the front) and would not trade it in for anything else.  I went in store to compare it to the Phil&Teds, the City mini, the Jeep, the Baby Jogger, Baby Trend...you name it!  The BOB come out top, hands down, there was no way you can compare the suspension or how easily it pushes compared to the others.

I do walk/run about 30miles a week though, which is why I was willing to spend more because I knew LO would be pushed around in it a lot.  If you are only planning to go running once in a while, it will be up to you if you're willing to spend so much on just an occasional jogger.  BUT like PP mentioned, you can definitely get them discounted on Craigslist (usually 1/2 to 1/3 price), and the cheaper brands are ok too (the Jeep is cheap and not too bad).  Even right now, the 2012BOBs are on sale (about 25% off original retail price) as they get ready to clear out the 2012 and bring out the next years...so if you want to buy it new, NOW is the time!  I would definitely not buy it in late winter/early spring because that is when it's the most expensive and not discounted at all.

  • I just picked up a Safety 1st Acella Sport Travel Jogger off of Craigs list. It was in nearly perfect condition and I only paid $50. I just got the stroller part, not the carseat. LO really enjoys it and even falls asleep in it while I'm running.

I plan on splurging for a BoB once we have a second baby and I'm having to push two LO's around. But for now I needed something basic that does a great job and this is certainly it. Plus it takes up 1/2 the space of my snap and go Graco stroller! Here's a link:

  • I know others disagree, but you get what you pay for with a jogging stroller.  We have the BOB Ironman (all wheels big and fixed) and it's awesome.  I got it used off CL and highly recommend that route.  It's light, smooth, stable, and has great suspension.  It's not a bells and whistles stroller; it's for running and is great for that purpose.  If you're looking to go to the mall, it's not the best idea.  Pretty much all my runner friends have one, and no one regrets the purchase.
