Hi ladies! Where did you have your water birth? in the hospital or in a birthing center? I'm considering about it but the thing is I'm scared (this is our first baby). It's only a midwife right and no nurse around? What do you think about it if you have experienced it.
Thank you for all your ideas really appreciate it

Re: Water birth?
DS1 was a water birth in a birth center attached to a hospital. It was actually only nurses until near the end when my MW came to break my water and be there for the delivery.
DS2 was a water birth in a free standing birth center and it was only my MWs.
Both of my water births were great experiences. I would highly recommend laboring in water as it really does ease much of the pain, give you the freedom to move around with ease, and take some of the weight off.
Who is there will vary greatly by who you pick as your provider. If you have a hospital waterbirth with an OB (not an option in my area, though), you'll have a very different cast of characters than at a home water birth.
DS2 was an almost-water birth (complication 3 pushes before he came out). I had him at a freestanding natural birth center with a CPM and 2 birth assistants. DH and our photographer were also there. In terms of technology, it was the same non-medical setup as a home birth. It was just a bigger bedroom and tub than we have room for at home.

i had a home waterbirth for my vbac with a CPM.
you should understand what your midwife does and what her qualifications are before proceeding with a midwife-assisted birth. most midwives do not work alone and will have a birth assistant present. some times that assistant is a nurse, sometimes not. sometimes there are two midwives. it really depends on your provider and birth setting. based on your question, i assume this hasn't come up for you yet.
there are some great posts to help you figure this all out here in the FAQ link in my siggie!
I had a water birth in a hospital, attended by my MW and an assistant (I think the assistant was a nurse, but I couldn't swear to it). There must have been a whole cast of people in the hospital room (the tub was in the bathroom off the main room) because he wasn't breathing initially (not at all related to birthing in the water), and my MW handed him off to someone in the hospital room and they suctioned him until we heard that first cry. So don't worry that there won't be enough support people if something were to go wrong.
Also, if it makes you feel any better, I had no intention of having a water birth, but wanted to labor in the tub. As soon as I got in I knew I didn't want to get out to push. Now that I've done it I can't imagine birthing any other way. You don't have to decide ahead of time "I will definitely have a water birth." If, during labor, water sounds like a good idea, you can get in, and if you decide once you're in that you want to get out to push, you can.
