Somewhat XP 36 worried

DD is a little over 3 months old, and I found a small peasized lump underneath her left nipple. It appeared within 48hrs. It doesn't seem to bother her, it is hard, and doesn't move around when touched; she hasn't acted any differently. We have not BF since she was a month old. She is on Enfamil Prosobee, and Previcid 7.5 mg/day for reflux.

I have read online and in books that it is hormones from Mother's breastmilk, but she isn't BF.

We saw her Dr. a week ago today. He feels it is a lymph node that is inflamed. He wants to watch it for 2 more weeks to see if it changes. My general rule is if Dr. Is worried I won't worry. But I am FLIPPING out my stomach is always in knots, I'm losing sleep worried about this... Anyone have anything similar or health concerns they too are trying to cope with?!

Re: Somewhat XP 36 worried

  • My son was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve last month and has to see a pediatric cardiologist. While I'm told it's normally not "functionally significant" I also know that a percentage of babies/toddlers/children with this heart defect end up needing heart surgery to replace their aortic valve. It is really, really hard not to worry...but the worry robs you of enjoying the day to day stuff with your baby.

I hope everything is okay with your LO.

  • Has she been sick at all with a cold virus or anything? When my DD was around 3-5 months old, I found a hard lump on her neck directly behind her ear. It was exactly like you've described. Pea-sized and very hard, didn't move, etc. It stayed for several months and then eventually disappeared. The doctor said it was probably a gland that got inflamed due to an infection. I know it's really hard, but just listen to your doctor and try not to worry.

  • Thank you ladies... yes gatsbygirl, she had been a little congested but mostly just this week, so maybe it was something brewing internally first. Its so strange, Im a nurse, and these rationales make so much sense, but my brain doesn't think this way when it's my own baby.
