Please suggest something for me... (TMI warning) NBR

Ok... I am in so much pain... so on Saturday I messed my knee up good, and the ER gave me 2 percocet for pain, well, I had them on an empty stomach and got extremely nauseous.... Well, I had a Zofran left over from pregnancy, and I took it... Well, I am sure everyone remembers that Zofran makes you constipated...

So... with that... I haven't gone since Saturday... and now I keep trying to go and just can't... its giving me horrible cramps and now making me nauseous....

I have tried coffee (yes, coffee usually helps me with this) I have tried prunes and nothing has helped...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... and something I can do without going to the store since Im at work for another 2 hours....

TIA (and if you suggest something that helps, my insides will thank you too lol)

  • Coffee usually works for me too, but if you can stand it, did you try it iced with cream and sugar/splenda?  That SHOULD do the trick.

Another thing that usually works is drinking a lot of water, all at once.  This is probably not such a good thing if you're feeling nauseous, though, it might make it worse. My mom swears by drinking a big glass of warm water but I haven't tried it. Fennel tea is also huge in helping with the nausea.

I'm not very helpful am i? I'm sorry.  The next best thing for your nausea is ginger chews, they will clear it right up.  Make sure if you don't go today or soon you start on your Ducolax... otherwise things will just pile up and make it more difficult!

  • Hopefully you have found something by now.  If not I took Milk of Magnesia a week after I had DD b/c I had not gone yet.  It worked within the hour.

  • My suggestion is glycerin suppositories, they work very quickly, usually within the hour.

  • I know this is late, and I am hoping that you were able to go by now. If this ever happens again, try warm apple and prune juice. Doesn't have to be coffee hot, but throw it in the microwave for 30 sec to a minute and it works like a charm. I am a post partum nurse and used to work on an orthopedic unit (where patients take lots of constipating pain meds) and this always did the trick. Stick with warmer fluids, as your body has to work harder to try to warm up the fluid and can actually slow things down even more. Ok, there is my two cents, good luck!
