Gift basket ideas for a preemie mama

I'm hoping you can help me out! 
A friend of mine had her baby girl on Sunday at 27 weeks along, she was due a few days after me! Mom came home from the hospital last night but baby will be there likely until close to her due date in December. 
I'd like to put together a little basket for the family but I'm not sure what to include. I'm going to make a little blankie for baby, maybe a couple headbands for use in the future. For mom and dad I was thinking gas card since they'll be driving to and from the hospital every day, Tim Hortons gift card for quick meals and snacks, but I'm not sure what else to add.
Thanks for any ideas!

    Perhaps a few mindless magazines or an itunes/amazon gift certificate if she has an electronic reader.  Gas cards are a good idea as are gift cards to target. Maybe a few ready-to-go snacks as well (individual bags of trail mix,etc) that she can pack and take with her on trips to the NICU.

    Your ideas are great and definitely what I would recommend.  We also loved anything personalized. We received personalized blankets, preemie hat, cross, mini name banner, etc.  Not only did it make her area feel more like home but it also meant that nothing would get lost.. our DD was the only Virginia in the unit.

    that's really sweet of you to want to do that for your friend. Your idea for the gas cards and gift cards for food are great and super useful.

    I used to make notes every day of what was going on with the babies because it was all so overwhelming and I didn't want to forget after I talked to the doctor. Maybe a little journal or something?!

    Thanks so much! I love the journal/baby book ideas! This town is pretty crappy for baby clothes so I'm not sure if I'll find much preemie stuff around here but good to know to go for snaps instead of zippers :) I also sew a lot so I'll be making a little blankie, swaddle blankets for later, cloth wipes (they're cloth diapering eventually!)
