Anyone have a great suggestions? I struggle with this every year and usually end up getting a gift card. I'd love any suggestions you guys have. Thanks much!
Definitely gift cards! However, my fave gift from one of my families was the Oprah 20th Anniversary DVD collection. The mom knew I loved Oprah (I recorded it every day to watch during the next day's nap) and I thought it was very thoughtful of her to get something she knew I would love.
If you don't know them well enough to know likes/dislikes.. a GC to a nice restaurant would be much appreciated, I'm sure. ?
My mom has taught for almost 30 years and her favorite gifts are usually gift cards! She does love the occasional class gift that is very thoughtful - one year they all gave her a something nice from James Avery, another year it was a "director's chair" with her name embroidered in the middle and all the kids' names around it. But, if you are going it alone, I say the gift cards are winners!
I agree with all the pps...gift cards are the way to go! Also, check with the director/principal to see if they have any kind of 'favorites' list for the teachers. Some places do, and you can pick specific gifts off of there. If they don't though, trust me, the teacher will love a gift card! It's always nice to go out to a fun dinner after school lets out for the holidays or have a shopping spree in Barnes and Noble.
Also, don't get anything that says "teacher" on it...my mom has taught for 25 years and has a junk box full of little apples and cutsey things that say "Number 1 Teacher" and such on them. They're a waste of your money, IMHO!
Re: Good holiday gift ideas for caregivers/teachers?
I know it sounds horrible, but nothing cutsey/crafty for their room/desk etc.
I agree GC are great or food!

Although I always loved getting any kind of gift from a student, gift cards were my favorite!
