TTC after 35

Intro and hello!

Hello all! I'm soon to be 36 and DH (29) and I are trying for our first. We have been trying for over a year, and have had really good timing with the help of charting and OPK over the last 6 months. DH is nervous something is wrong with him but I keep telling him that it can take a completely healthy couple up to a year to conceive.  I briefly mentioned it to my gyn at my last annual and she said that it could be that with such a short LP it may be hard to stay pg without some medical assistance. I'm going to give us one more month though before I start really pursuing medical assistance. This will also give me time to look into whether my insurance will cover any of it.

Just wanted to say hello!

Re: Intro and hello!

  • Welcome and I hope your stay here with us is short!
Me 39 & suspected PCOS, DH 42. Went off BCP when we got married in 11/11, seriously TTC since 3/12.  Six cycles of clomid = BFNs.  Suspected endometriosis & HSG showed both tubes blocked.  Sept 2013 IVF 5D transfer of two perfect embryos = BFN.  Started acupuncture and taking time off to drop some pounds & get healthier before FET in April 2014.

  • welcome!  Hope you get your BF this month!  And absolutley check on your insurance coverage with fertility tests, treatments, medications before you go down that path.  I didn't and learned the hard way with a hefty bill!  A short LP can be an issue and can be caused by several different reasons.  Hope you get it all figured out!  Good luck!

Photobucket Me:36 DH: 34 TTC since 02/2012, not preventing since 2010. Me: testing came back good. DH: dx: MIF low count/motility. RE recommends IVF with ICSI. Update: DH just diagnosed with severe Crohn's disease, so any IF treatment is on hold :(
  • Welcome, this is a great place to get advice and support!  My dh also thought that he was the reason why we weren't able to conceive right away, turned out after numerous tests that it was my body that wasn't cooperating.  My insurance only covers the diagnostic tests, everything else is out of pocket which has been really hard.  If you do see a specialist, you might want to ask for their pricing on IUIs/IVFs in case you need to start planning how to go about things money wise.  Hopefully you won't have to deal with that stuff though...good luck!

  • Thank you so much for the welcomes and words of encouragement! I really appreciate it and hope we all move to the Pregnant after 35 real soon! :)
