S/O thank you notes

I ordered photo cards for L's thank you notes with the intention of writing a handwritten note specific to the individual. I cheaper out and got the flat card instead of the folded, but now that I have them in hand, there is way less space at the bottom than I thought there would be. Is it tacky to write the note on the back? Should I just write the note on a separate page and put it in the same envelope? This is what I get for being cheap!

I think either is fine. It may be easier just to write the note on a 3x5 card (if you have any) and stick it in the envelope. A short note on the back would be fine in my book as well.
