I was about to go to bed last night when I suddenly heard water running in the kitchen. It was coming from under the sink. When I opened the cabinet, there was water gushing everywhere. I called the hubs for backup and he shut it down, but the water was all over the place.
It was a pain to clean up, but at least I'm glad it happened when I was right there - I don't think we'll have any permanent damage, except maybe our flooring, but it's cheap floating floor and our kitchen is tiny, so it won't be too expensive to replace it if need be (plus we were talking about doing it this winter anyways). Also, it turned out it wasn't the pipe itself, but rather a fitting that just split open, so we should be able to replace it ourselves.
Re: Water everywhere!
That's sucks, but you're right... could've been SOOO much worse!! You were home, you get a head start on the re-flooring project AND just a fitting replacement.
Ugh... I don't even want to think about our first home malfunction. I am dreading it. It seems like 4 of my friends and my ILs needed new A/Cs this year... EXPENSIVE!! It's not like 110* summers are livable without A/C.
