I'm about 7 weeks along. I had my intake appointment last Friday with a nurse and my blood pressure was a little high. I'm usually normal, around 117/72. Last Friday, I was at 146/85. I have my first appointment with the doctor this Friday, but until then, I've been so worried about this blood pressure issue. Has anyone had high blood pressure in the beginning of their pregnancy? And what was done about it? Is there medication they can prescribe for this? I had blood pressure issues for my first pregnancy during my last trimester. I was put on bed rest during my last month. So I know that if this progresses, I'll eventually be put on bed rest. I just hope not too early because we cannot afford for me to be off work for too long. So you can imagine all the stress I've been going through these past couple of days. Please help ease my mind. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Re: anyone have hypertension during 1st tri?
I have not had high blood pressure during pregnancy but experienced issues with it on and off over the years. My Dr. said there are several safe blood pressure medications that can be taken during pregnancy should my bp start to go up, often if it starts in the first tri it could be indicative of an issue that exsisted previously.
That being said you also need more than one reading to determine if you truly have high bp, has your Dr. given you any follow up instructions?

I have pregnancy related hypertension. For me, it's a nice counterbalance to my gestational diabetes. The two cancel each other out as far as how they can effect baby's growth. My bp hasn't been very high, but my OB has me taking and charting it twice a day to keep an eye on it. My last 3 visits to her office has shown close to normal blood pressure which is good as I'm only getting more pregnant by the hour, it feels like. My OB says that a woman with mild hypertension at the beginning of pregnancy tends to have a more controlled overall bp than one who develops it later on. That has definitely been true for me.
Don't worry yourself sick over it. Just monitor it and keep a dialog with your dr. It's gonna be what it's gonna be and worrying about it is only going to exasperate the situation.
Good luck!
