So last night, I had my first trip to the gym pool. It was pretty good, overall, though it's tough not to overexert myself, because swimming is so deceptive: it FEELS light, but I'm winded before I know it! Can't wait for the belly to come in, because I think it'll drive away the creepy dudes who only come to the gym to hit on women (yuck). I'm also eyeballing some at-home pregnancy yoga DVDs to replace my non-pregnancy ones, so recommendations are welcome.
Also, I totally offset any benefit I got last night by snarfing two cream puffs today. Oops.
How's your exercise regimen going?
Re: How's that exercise going?
::MyBlog::
I started back walking/running and am incorporating some strength training and ab exercises. So far it's going well, but I can definitely feel my self tiring easier than before PG.
Based on a little research, I've ordered 3 PG workout DVDs; Summer Sanders' prenatal workout, 10 Minute Solution: Prenatal Pilates, and the Perfect Pregnancy workout Vol 1. The Pilates video has 5 10min workouts that you can do separate, or combine of you want a longer workout. The last one is by a Cirque du Soleil performer, and I keep hearing great things about her video.
My little man at 0-1-2
oh yeah, for sure!!
My little man at 0-1-2
i always heard it is safe to be as active as your were before pregnancy...
soooooo.....
i'm being exactly as active as i was before.
that's bad, huh.
Well Mon, Tues, Wed, Th and Fri are my "off" exercise days. By the time the weekend rolls around I really like to just take it easy and hang out with the family.
I actually convinced DD to get in her stroller so we could go on a walk about two weeks ago...... so about the same as always.
I go to prenatal yoga once a week. I wanted to go back to my Thursday night kickboxing class, but this still hasn't happened.
However, I enrolled DD in a gym class on Saturday morning. Her first one was last Saturday and we spent 45 mins running around the gym. I was so wiped after her class that I needed a nap. So, it looks like I will be considering HER gym class as my 2nd workout for the week.
Still going strong! I go to Crossfit 5x a week (only a couple times so far this pregnancy have only made it in less) and try to get either a 2-3 mile run or walk in, with 3-4 mile runs on the weekends. Intensity is SO hard to watch, especially with something like Crossfit. I'm still lifting weights just watching my heavier weights-but I still Push 75-90lbs over my head and feel pretty good abouti t...handstand pushups and pull ups are still ok though getting a little harder....baby looked good yesterday at my 16 week check up so I guess I'll just keep going!
I just recently got signed up for a company wellness contest and intend on getting 5 miles a day in...I have serious water retention issues and the best way I ever found to combat that was to get ALOT of movement in. I'm 4 lbs over the recommended weight gain, even with constant exercising and eating healthy so I'm hoping that getting some more walking in will help combat that.
Totally counts!
The subject line is half in jest, anyway. I'll be amazed if I keep up any kind of routine for more than a month. I imagine that for most of us, our lifestyles leave our exercise options kind of limited!
I've been pretty much doing the same as I was before getting pregnant. I try and get to the gym 4 days a week. I prefer classes b/c I get bored easily working out on my own so I've been doing spinning, a stroller fitness class (with both kiddos in my double jogger stroller), water aerobics and yoga occasionally after a spinning class.
I've pretty much been able to keep up with everything the same as pre-pg but I can't do the sprints or hill jumps in spinning b/c it kills my bladder and makes me feel like I am going to pee my pants already (ahh the joys of the 3rd pregnancy). I am having to do some modified stuff in yoga and stroller x class b/c some of the ab stuff just isnt happening and I obviously cant lay on my belly for any of the exercises that need that but I find there is enough stuff that I *can* do that its still worth it. I just substitute when needed.
Ugh! Between working full time and going to school part time at night, I have absolutely ZERO energy to go to the gym. All I do on the weekends is sleep to try to catch up on being exhausted from the week. Oh, and the whole 1st trimester I had terrible morning sickness all day long every day, so the gym was not even an option.
But I'm feeling like I've gained too much weight so I'm going to try to fit in workout DVDs at home, because I still don't see any way possible I'll be schlepping to the gym 5-6 days a week. I ordered these from Amazon for less than $40 total:
10 Minute Solution: Prenatal Pilates
The Perfect Pregnancy Workout vol. 1
Element: Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga
Hoping to get rocking once they arrive!
