DD doesn't like jeans anymore!

this morning, DD decided she will no longer wear jeans.  She then proceeds to march with her legs up high and says it's too tight when she does that.  I can't have her only wear leggings, they're not warm enough!

any suggestions? anyone else's LO have this problem?

  • I refused to wear jeans until I was in middle school. Luckily for me it was the 80s/early 90s so I could get away with stretchy, cotton pants. I would say that as long as she's going from inside to car to inside that she will be fine.

I personally couldn't handle the feeling of jeans as a kid. I'm still really picky about the fabric of my clothes, but jeans are one of my favorite things now.

  • My daughter won't wear jeans either.  Fortunately, we live in an area where it doesn't get too cold during the winter, so she wears leggings with dresses most of the time.  When she isn't wearing leggings, she wears yoga type pants or fleece pants.  The fleece pants are definitely warm enough for colder climates, she often gets too hot in those here and wears the fleece pants when we are traveling to other parts of the the country.

  • My DD hates jeans too. I just bought her a bunch of leggings and plan on putting tights under them for extra warmth on days that I absolutely cannot convice her to wear jeans.

  • The last time I remember DD wearing jeans was last year when we went on the pumpkin patch field trip with school.  And it was only by some random miracle that I even got them on her at that time because she was refusing to wear them for a while before that.  lol

  • Neither of my girls will wear pants, skirts and dresses only. I can coax them into leggings if it's really cold out. In the winter they usually wear thick white tights. We haven't had a problem with them being too cold with leggings and we were in NYC until this summer, so walked quite a bit regardless of the weather.

  • Actually I live in MN and yes, leggings can be warm enough.  My younger DD is very into what she wears and she went through a phase one winter where she would only wear black leggins - it was not just jeans she wouldn't wear, it was any color.  At least it made matching very easy for me!!!  Honestly - if that is what she wants to wear, let her.  For me, clothing is not something I chose to battle.  If I am worried about her being warm, I layer the rest of her outfit - wear socks underneath that are knee high's, wear a long top or dress over it that is warm (thing sweatshirts, long fleece tops or warm dresses.).  My DD outgrew this phase but she is still very picky about her clothes and if she says she won't wear something, she won't and I move on.  I never take tags off of her clothes until she sees and tries it on.  My other DD will still wear what I tell her (on the rare occasion that I make that decision - my kids have been picking out their clothes for a while now.

  • DD1 went through the same phase. We did a lot of "soft pants" - leggings, yoga style pants, sweatpants, fleece. Really, I don't think jeans are all that warm unless they're lined, so fleece pants are probably warmer.

  • Have you tried the knit jeggings? Target currently has pairs in several different colors, including one that looks like denim, but is actually a knit blend. They're only 8 a pair at our local Target. Last year, jeans did not fit DD well at all and I got tired of constantly pulling them up, so she wore a lot of leggings, knit pants, fleece/sweat pants on cold days and skirts with thick tights underneath.

BTW, Old Navy is having a sale right now on all their baby/toddler clothes and they have knit, yogastyle, pants for 5 in all different colors.

  • My DD hates jeans too. Right now she prefers skirts with leggings underneath. I bought a few pair of skirts with leggings attached at Walmart.

Mine would melt in fleece. So knit is the way to go.

  • DD hates jeans too and only wants to wear leggings; fortunately I'm in a warmer climate.  I agree w/ PP on fleece pants.  I love the Jumping Beans collection at Kohls for fleece pants-very reasonable $.  Old Navy has cords.

  • This is totally normal, my DD won't wear jeans, and neither will most of her friends of this age! She loves wearing leggings with dresses over. You can for sure buy warmer leggins, or fleece pants, or even softer cords sometimes DD will wear. Jeans aren't the only option!
