I had a checkup with my doctor yesterday to evaluate if I should still keep taking 50mg of Zoloft each day for anxiety/depression. He was ecstatic about the pregnancy- always is- I just love this guy! However, he gave me some pointers on surviving pregnancy. First, he recommended that I stay on my medication until I'm near the end of my pregnancy, then I should get off of it so the baby doesn't go through withdrawls (it sounds awful, but he said keeping my anxiety down will benefit the baby in the meantime). Also he said whatever I do- DO NOT read "What to Expect When You're Expecting", do not watch Baby Story on TLC, absolutely no Googling anything about pregnancy, and my least favorite- stay off the mommy boards. He is a really down to earth guy, always very reassuring, and always gives the indication that he has all the time in the world to listen to my questions and concerns. I trust the dude, so I'm going to take his advice. I will miss checking in on the boards daily, but I think he's right- it will help my anxiety to stay away.
Also, he said to check out the book- "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy". He said its a good read- not scary- but full of good-to-know stuff.
Re: Doctors orders....
People have recommended "The Girlfriend's Guide" to me too. I haven't read it yet but will definitely check it out.
We'll miss you, but the most important thing is to keep your stress levels LOW. It sounds like you have a GREAT doctor, so just trust him and enjoy your pregnancy!

I read girlfriends guide first and I do love it. I'm reading what to expect now.
Personally for my anxiety the best for me is knowing everything I can. So I'm reading, watching and learning as much as I can in the next nine months. I kinda want to know all the worst case senerios so if they happen, I know what will happen lol.
I LOVE GIRLFRIENDS' GUIDE!!! It's a definite Must Read!
I'm sorry he said to stay off the boards. I found the boards so, so helpful throughout my first pregnancy, and absolutely refused to watch those shows or read those books because I know me and I know I would overanalyze everything. I really found that staying on the tri boards (back then there were no BMBs) helped me know what to expect, what was coming next, what was "normal" (you know, some of those things some of you girls consider "TMI) and what to look for. I never knew about a mucus plug until I was on here, or Braxton Hicks, or kick counts. And once DS was born it was so helpful to find people to bond with about 2am feedings, cluster feeding (which I also knew nothing about) and other common infant stuff.
Best of luck to you!!

I completely understand where you are coming from. A few weeks ago, I posted about needing ?bump breaks? because reading too many posts cause me to stress out and over-think baby (if its possible).
Good luck in your pregnancy!
