DD STTN! found the solution!

I posted a couple days ago about DD waking multiple times at night. last night she went down at 730 perfectly...not a peep till almost two when she nursed..then up at six to nurse again and she went back down perfectly after each nursing session. this was a HUGE accomplishment for us! a friend suggested that she could be cold causing her to wake often...So I did a long sleeved onsie under her footie pajamas...plus socks...the pajamas were fleece and I put a wearable blanket on her. that is seriously the only change we made! praying this wasn't a fluke night and that she just wanted to be warmer! just thought I'd share in case any of you mamas wanna try this simple thing!

Re: DD STTN! found the solution!

  • I'm not trying to be a jerk but do you really consider it STTN if she woke up at 2am?

    Im glad she did well!

  • I thought it was 8+, or stayed asleep until the sun came up. But yay for progress! Do you keep her room an ice box lol? That is a lot of layers, but I hope it works for you again tonight!!

  • That's great! DD just starting sleeping 9 to 5. We did absolutely nothing different. I think sometimes it's just something they grow out of too.

  • Yay! actually sttn is 4 hours plus.  How f*ing crazy is 4 hours because thats not a sleep session for me. LOL.  but your LO did 6.5 hours the first stretch.  YAY.  that is a win in my book.  I never minded a nursing session if baby went right back to sleep and I didn't have to rock/bounce her for and hour afters.  Lets hope warm and cuddly is your solution!

  • You're right, 5 hours is considered STTN, congrats on your sleep! That's something to remember this winter, in addition to being uncomfortable being cold can make them wake more to eat since they're burning more cals trying to stay warm. Or so I've been told.

  • yay, congrats!!

I have found DD sleeps better when she is wearing a fleecy sleep sack over her PJs. Last night they were all in the wash at bedtime, she went to bed at 8pm just wearing PJs and woke two hours later instead of five hours later. Grr. I nursed her and put her in a fleece sack and she slept til 3.30. not bad

  • It sounds like it to me. In my book they say it's STTN 5 hours straight and usually its 12 to 5am but I would still consider it.

I didn't mean to offend you if I did. We all have different definitions of sttn. Yay for progress though! I am right there with you on improved sleep.
