3rd Trimester

When did baby "drop"?

Just wanting to get some feed back on how soon some of you had noticed baby dropped. I swear it feels like baby girl has dropped, but I'm just 32 weeks and this is my first. Thought it happens later.

I just feel different it sort of feels like she's not as high anymore. :P

Thanks so much ladies!! Hope you're all doing well. :0)

  • Sorry to be a downer (oh my god, pardon the pun....) DD didn't drop until I was 39 weeks.  I was actually still working then (I wanted to work right up until I felt I couldn't.  So I was out at Walmart doing my merchandising, when all of a sudden, I felt pain in my right knee.  It continued - and went from my hips to my knees, and trying to drive home it got even worse.  When I put my feet up and relaxed a bit, I started to realize what was happening.  The next day I was completely fine, and then it was just a waiting game for the next two weeks - she was finally born 1 week overdue.

  • this is my second LO, baby dropped last week (35 weeks). I think she still has a ways to go but I've noticed that I'm feeling kicks much lower on my stomach and there's a lot more pressure in my pelvic area.  The frequency of trips to the bathroom has become ridiculous too.  Not really anticipating any correlation to possible early labor with the new baby position at all.

  • I was due on Sunday (now 3 days overdue) and LO dropped sometime the end of last week/early this week.  I didn't feel him drop when it happened, so I'm not sure if he did it overnight one night or if it was a gradual thing.

I didn't notice the "lightening" that I hear about, where it's easier to breathe, because LO never really made it into my ribs.  Apparently my torso is long enough that his feet rarely found my ribs.

However, now that he's lower/in position, it feels like I'm walking around carrying a bowling ball balanced on my hipbones and cervix.   I thought I had to pee a zillion times a day before, now it's MUCH worse.

  • I think I dropped somewhere around 37 weeks.  Mine wasn't as dramatic as some, but I started getting some of the "lightning", just not all at once.  Now when he moves his head it sometimes feels like he's trying to make his grand entrance.

Pretty much as soon as I thought he had dropped I started getting comments from coworkers, family and friends on how low I looked.

  • I think my son has dropped some, but not to the point that I have heard you can feel it. I noticed around 37 weeks that he wasn't kicking up under my ribs anymore and that he "felt" slightly lower. Otherwise, if that wasn't him dropping, then he still hasn't dropped and I am 4 days away from his due date!
  • I started dropping about 2 weeks ago, but still have not fully dropped and I'm due in 2 days.. I think it depends person to person.

  • With my first it was around 38 weeks. He went very very low and my doctor even asked me how I was even able to walk. However- he didn't come early at all, I was induced on my due date.

  • My baby flipped from breech to vertex at 37 weeks and then dropped almost immediately.

  • I'm a FTM but at my appt yesterday I was complaining of so much pressure down there. I can barely walk by the end of the day and I'm feeling movements so much lower now, almost in my hips and pelvic area when it was at my ribs 2 weeks ago. The dr. felt around and said the baby was sitting really low. Not sure if that counts as dropping, but some days I feel like the baby could literally slip out!
  • My LO was very dramatic about it.  I literally felt the drop - I stood up from a chair at 35w4d and had this *whump* feeling...and he was suddenly out of my ribs and I had intense pelvic pressure.  DH got home from a business trip the next day and noticed the difference in what my belly looked like right away - I had been carrying pretty high until this point.  LO has been progressively working himself lower since then...and the pressure, constant peeing, shocking sensation in the cervix, etc. only gets worse. :-/  But I can breathe without feeling like my lungs are squished now!

  • Mine dropped at 37 weeks (I'm at 38 weeks now).  I woke up one morning with a lot of soreness in my groin muscles (like I'd been doing the splits all night).  Then, I began noticing the need to pee more and could also see the difference in my shape in the mirror.
  • My baby never dropped!! She was breech though so maybe that makes a difference? She was up top till the end :)

  • I've had a bunch of people comment that it looks like I've "dropped" in the last week, but I don't think so. I think baby boy just shifts around as he likes during the day, and sometimes it makes me look like I'm carrying super low. I'll believe he's dropped when my shortness of breath eases a bit. Right now I huff & puff all the time :( and feel feet in my ribs...

This is how I've been feeling too! :P I can feel the difference in how I can breathe too. :P
