Babies: 9 - 12 Months

bedtime

My lo has been going to bed at 8. The last two night he has been falling asleep eating his last bottle around 7 7:15. Should i keep him up or just let him fall asleep? Is he just changing his sleep schedule or what? I doesn't seem to make him sleep better or worse he still wakes up 2 times a night.

Re: bedtime

  • Let him go to bed when he's tired. Ds goes to bed at 630 usually. He went to bed at 545 tonight because he was wiped. I'm a firm believer in baby led schedules.

  • If its not causing him to wake more I would let him go to sleep.

  • DD goes to bed at 7 and has for a while now.  Sometimes when she's really tired she'll do 6:30 and I'm fine with it.  If she's tired, she should be allowed to sleep.  Overly tired babies never sleep well in my experience anyway, and we need all the sleep help we can get.

  • Let him go to sleep earlier if he shows signs of being tired.  My son usually has bed time at 6:30pm but he has gone down as early as 5:30pm.

    Yes, DS does.

  • 8 is pretty late for my son! He's usually asleep between 6:30 - 7, because he needs 12 hours, and he needs to be up around 7 in the morning to get ready to go to daycare by 8 a.m. I would for sure put your baby to bed around 7.

  • Mine doesn't, but that doesn't seem to correlate with what time we put her down.  We've done later and earlier and she still wakes at the same times.
