I have two stupid questions for anyone who has the time.
Do I have to avoid pesto since it's made from pine nuts and babies shouldn't have nuts for the first 2 years or whatever it is?
Also, how are you dealing with daycare? Mine will give him a half jar of a veggie and a fruit as part of our daycare cost whenever we're ready to start. They will give him anything additional that we bring in and request. I haven't asked if they are willing to deal with the BLW chaos or if it's just easier to let him have the purees. Right now, I think he's fine just "eating" with us at breakfast and dinner, but as he gets older, he's going to need a meal then. Are you just going to deal with it when it comes later on and pack LO the least messy meals for lunch time?

Re: More BLW Questions
What is BLW?

My only concern with BLW at daycare would be choking. When babies are eating are they always being watched 1:1? With several babies on each teacher's watch, it might make me nervous. Obviously when you are feeding at home, you and often your H are right there.
Not sure about your pesto question, but I'd assume if it includes nuts you should avoid it.
That's also a concern of mine. I'm wondering if in a month or two if I'll be more comfortable without someone staring at him for every second.

I'm undecided on how to handle daycare as well. I'll probably just send the foods that I know DS can easily manage, and save the messy or difficult stuff for at home.
I'm planning to do modified BLW. I look at it as- some foods we eat mashed, pureed- applesauce, mashed potatoes, etc so I will want him to get some spoon practice with foods like that.
When he needs a lunchtime meal, I will just send purees and do BLW in morning and night and on weekends. I might stick to foods that are more natural to be mashed though
If it were me, I might just skip solids at dc all together since its not nutritionally mandatory and just let lo work on the blw stuff at home with you guys. Maybe at least until you're comfortable with baby's skill level and can show dc what a nonissue it is?
