It was a toss up between athletic and dean's list but I chose deans list since I figure that will get her further in life. A little of everything would be best :
I chose dean's list because I think that type of hard work and intelligence will go the furthest beyond high school. However, beyond that I would prefer he be well rounded.
I must be a terrible mother b/c I don't really want my kid to be the 'best' at anything. By that I mean I don't want my kid to be a professional athlete/musician/actor etc. colour me jaded but most of those people are royally screwed up and rarely happy. I want my kids to be well rounded and independent.

I voted dean's list because out of all the options, that is most likely to happen. DH & I are not athletic, popular, funny, or musical, but we both are pretty book smart. (I'm not talking about common sense here, that's another story!) Well, I'm musical, but DH can't carry a tune for two notes. If DS (or DD) comes out being anything but book smart, I'd be massively surprised.

Whichever of those makes them happy honestly. I can't say I'd prefer a band nerd to a jock to a student, just that they're happy and productive people.
I chose class clown because good humor requires social skills and intelligence/wit.
I was really tempted to pick dean's list, but high school grades don't mean that much. I'd hope that he was just a late academic bloomer or street smart. Many of the most successful people I know weren't "good" in high school but took off once they hit college or the real world. That being said, it'd be great if he was on the dean's list, too.

I picked most athletic. Only because DS is *OBSESSED* with all sports. Everything is about soccer, baseball, football, even golf. Granted he is only 23 months but sports bring him endless joy.

This for me too. DS has 3 different sized balls and he kicks them around the house all.day.long. He's obsessed with balls. I can see him being athletic over all the rest.
I voted prom king/queen because opposite of the hollywood version of prom, our prom kings and queens were truly the nicest people in the class, and therefore the most popular.
Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
I just want her to be well-rounded. I want her to do well in school, but doesn't need to be valedictorian. I would like her to be well-liked and enjoy her friends and hobbies. I hope she finds something she's really into, and I will 100% support her.
Huh. I preferred artsy fartsy. I was always told that I was very good at drawing, painting, and ceramics, but my dad refused to pay for me to take art in college so I dropped it. I want C to have the opportunities I didnt have so part of me really wants him to go in that direction. However, I am certain he will be a computer/tech geek.

Same, plus being most athletic usually means you're as dumb as a door knob.

Ouch. Sucks my kid is gonna be so dumb.
I couldn't keep this kid away from a ball if I tried. Like seriously... he is constantly talking about a soccer party he saw once on Super Why.
He happens to know his shapes and colors too.
Edit: that came off super b!tchy. Didn't mean it to.

Am not! I reserve that for most of the hockey players and football players. Really, anything where head injuries and concussions are involved. My varsity team had a pretty high PGA and the majority are now doctors, lawyers and other professionals.
I just want my daughter to be happy in school. I had a miserable Junior High experience, and high school was just barely better. I want her to feel like she's okay however she is, and to have passion for what interests her, and friends who can be depended on.
I would also be pleased if she were a comic book reading, dungeons and dragons playing, action adventure movie loving, sci-fi/fantasy fan geek like her dad and I. But we won't push that (I mean, other than having her surrounded by that environment 24/7). We'll take happy and well adjusted over everything, EVERYTHING else.

I was top of the Dean's list and it didn't really get me that far. I've realized that the old saying, "It's not what you know, it's who you know" is sooo true. Wish I could have learned that sooner.

Class clown or prom king gets my vote. I'd rather my kid have good social skills vs book smarts. Of course, that doesn't mean I want them to be unmotivated or unintelligent--just that smarts isn't my main end goal. Kids that are too book smart don't usually make it that far unless they go into research or something because they tend to be socially awkward. Many of the people who I know obtained successful careers that they're fully satisfied in didn't even finish college. Getting ahead is about who you know/getting people to like you and that happens easier for those who have good social skills.

This is exactly how I feel! Plus I know a lot of people who were A+ students but have failed at life.
The prom king my senior year was a nice kid that people liked but he wasn't very popular. It was actually sad but people started paying more attention to him when his mom died that spring. I don't know if he would have been voted in prom king otherwise. The other nominees were either douche-y or manwhores so maybe that's why it wasn't the first thing I want my son to strive for. lol
Picked Dean's List. I hope to raise well rounded children who are attractive, athletic, popular and smart and above average in all ways. But end of the day if I have to pick just one, it would be academic performance.
-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.

I voted Dean's List even though most athletic might mean he'd earn millions playing a sport and be able to buy his mama sweet cars and jewels. ;P

I don't remember who the prom queen was.
