Winter Activities?

It's a cooler day here in Ohio today!

Just kind of stressing out about what the heck we are going to do in the winter time when we are trapped inside all day.  We spend SO MUCH TIME OUTSIDE!  I hate the thought of being trapped inside all day with her with nothing to do....

What are some winter time activities to do with a 1 1/2 year old?

Think she'll be old enough to color?  Maybe indoor swim lessons?  That's all i got!

  • Mall play areas, inflatable places (i.e. Pump It Up), children's museum, library storytime, Kindermusic, gymnastics.

  • I've been trying to think of ideas too....so far got story time at the library..they have that 3 days a week. Mall indoor playground. Gonna try out the gymboree classes they have with the free trial. Then if its great and he loves it, right now they have no membership fees to sign up. Probably do the indoor swimming. It does get pretty chilly here too but I plan on going outside for short periods of time on warmer days.

  • I plan to get LO outside gear and let him play in the snow. And we'll probably do swim lessons this fall and winter too - he really enjoyed them this past spring.

I guess it depends on where you live, and how cold it gets, but most days it's not unbearable to get outside here even in January.

  • I'm going to bundle her up and get outside as much as possible. Provided it's not -30.

She loves outside. LOVES. There will be a toddler war of epic proportions otherwise. I also have outside work to do and can't do much about it. I can at least put her in a barn where it's relatively warm.

Otherwise, for the really cold days: More stories, coloring, maybe I'll show her paint. She has toys she hasn't touched all summer due to being outside, so hopefully she'll take an interest to those. We might go visit more people as a chance to get out.

I have her signed up for ECFE classes that go through the winter. Then hopefully swim lessons.

I also in all honesty, hope she learns to like TV a bit more. I don't mean hours but like a 1/2 hour movie just to buy me some time. She's just starting to show an interest in that now.
