Hi, I'm from the 1st trimester board. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and I'm SOOOOO looking forward to the 2nd trimester. From all of my research, I see that I will be feeling less exhausted, less boobie pain and less nauseous! That would be a blessing!
My questions is......is it really that great?
Please be honest and tell me how you are feeling and exactly when you started feeling better (if you are). Or share anything new that you didn't expect.
I have this vision that on the 13th week, 3 days in, I will be feeling amazing.
Please bring me to reality. lol
Thanks!

It really depends on the person. Some ladies are feeling just fine by around 14-15 weeks after a gradual improvement, others are still having m/s at 25+ weeks. I never had m/s but I always felt nasty until around 13 weeks, but since mid-first trimester I've had dizziness, faintness and lightheadedness that has never gone away, and I'm on sick leave from work because it was too hard on my body. I generally feel ok but I get exhausted very easily and have to limit my outings to an hour, maybe two. I can't even stand at the counter and mix cake mix with an electric mixer sometimes without having to stop and go sit down until the dizziness passes.
In general the rumor is the 2nd trimester is better, for a lot of people I know, it was, but not so much for me

hahah... I had the same "Light at the end of the tunnel" - - I am in the beginning of second trimester and 13w3d was not all it was cracked up to be for me... my queasiness is still lurking but has diminished quite a bit... I actually felt worse in weeks 11-14 then started feeling better.... but just as my nausea went away, I was blindsided by headaches... which really suck... Not to mention Sciatica... that also sucks. Still having some odd food aversions but finally able to start eating more balance meals (as long as they don't include grilled chicken for some odd reason)...
Good luck in your coming weeks but from what it seems - it is different for everyone. What I really felt better about is the sigh of relief that the chance of m/c went way down...
Thank you for your responses. It really is different for everyone. I just feel like the time is standing still and I will never ever reach the 2nd tri!!
For those of you still feeling sick, I hope you feel better soon!
Too funny, I HATE grilled chicken now. I used to eat it with everything it's SO unlike me. My husband thinks that part of pregnancy is the greatest....watching me eat and seeing what I create for dinner, lol. Like, I mixed mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with ketchup the other night. He went out for a pizza
For me, it has been pretty good, I mostly feel like myself but with a few more aches and pains, and of course the ever-growing belly. But I pretty much have my normal energy levels and my breasts don't hurt hardly at all (though that comes and goes and is more noticeable some days than others), and I'm not nauseous at all.
I started feeling better as far as my tummy and breasts are concerned at 10 weeks, but I didn't get my energy back until around 15 weeks or so, but it really is different for every pregnancy.

My BFP Chart
I have really enjoyed my 2nd trimester- my m/s didn't subside until around 14ish weeks, and I will occasionally get brief pangs of m/s but it subsides quickly. My boobs are less sore, though they never bothered me a ton since this is my 2nd time around- and I have SO much more energy. I have a 3yo at home and felt like a horrible mom the 1st trimester because I was exhausted and sick all the time- she kept asking me to play and I would say mommies tired and she would tell me she had a bed in her room I could lay in and rest... So we're making up for lost time. It's also exciting because I'm rocking my bump proud, so everything feels so much more real!
I hope you start feeling better soon- there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise!
Our Fur Babies: Karma and Abbey
My morning sickness didn't start to ease up until last week (week 16). I've still thrown up, though (last Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and yesterday). Granted, the last three times were from a poor gag reflex while brushing my teeth, but still.
My boobs are still sore. I still get waves of exhaustion, although I have finally been able to do some cleaning, yard work, and cooking, which was a no-go in the first trimester.
It's different for everyone. But trust me, 13 weeks 3 days does not make everything remarkably better. I actually got sicker as I entered my second trimester; it was probably the worst week of morning sickness I have had so far, and I've had it since week 6. Good luck to you though!
Since 13w1d, except for two or three days of surprise nausea (which could have been a stomach bug), I've felt great. Sometimes I'm tired, sometimes I'm crabby, but mostly I'm already having pregnancy amnesia about the oh-so-crummy first tri! In fact, just a minute ago I thought, "Yeah, pregnancy, okay, I'd do this again" - when 6 weeks ago I swore this baby would have to like being an only child.
That said, my best friend had a super-easy first pregnancy, but she was sick as a dog the.entire.time with baby number 2...It's different every time, for everyone, or so I hear.
As far as new symptoms go... First, um, buy some panty liners. Seriously. It's gross to talk about but the discharge can get out of control. Also be prepared to go through a 2 - 4 week period where you don't really look pregnant, just chubby. You may luck out and go straight to "cute bump" status, but if not, just tell yourself that you'll be there soon. Same goes for if you don't show at all - the time to start practicing patience is now!
Last but not least, if you weigh yourself every day, stop now. Before pregnancy my weight could fluctuate 3 - 4 pounds in a day, but now it's more like 7 - 8! To me it is super alarming to weigh 8 pounds more one day and 6 less the next, then the same, then 2 less, then 6 more... Better to do it once a week (or only at the doctor's if you can stand to wait).

This is me, it took me until 22-23 weeks and I finally have had more days without m/s than with. I also maybe have more energy, it is hard to tell some days but having kids will do that to you!! As PS said everyone is different, hopefully you will feel better sooner.
But enjoy it while it last because 3rd trimester has new things to come!!
Ill be honest... I thought when my 2nd trimester started i would just wake up one day and feel like i did before i was pregnant! ummm not quite! LOL
Yes, i'm very greatful that my morning sickness went away ( oh thank god for that), but i still dont have an appitite back, i gag on my food still ( and while brushing my teeth), my hips hurt so bad, my lower back aches all the time.
However, with all this pain, when i started to feel my baby moving around and kicking me ( who would have thought i wanted to be kicked?) its the most amazing feeling in the world.
I'm 21 Weeks along now and i honestly didnt expect pregnancy to be this tiring emotionally and physically and i personaly cant wait untill the end of January when i can pop this baby out and just have my baby in my arms.
Good luck getting through the rest of your 1st trimester.
No. Both times my nausea dropped off around wee 16 (NOT 13 like everyone said) but I still get queasy after vitamins, eating too much, or not enough.
I'm not AS tired, but I'm still really tired.
That's about it. It's better than the suck of first tri and the misery of 3rd but still not great by a long shot!
