He has to do 90 minutes of chores on Saturday. My sister and brother told him that we did a full day's worth of chores every Saturday.
And then... gasp... if he is fresh, he goes to his room for 10 minutes. Life is over for those ten minutes. My brother told him that he was once grounded to his bedroom for two weeks. SS2 said he thought he would die.
No sympathy from my family. The drama from a teenage boy.

Re: SS2 tried again to complain to my sister that I am sssooo mean
Are you kidding? Its hard to read sarcasm. I'm going to assume you were. He has to clean his bedroom, bathroom, vacuum the stairs and hallway, and sort his laundry (and put away later).

Actually, I was wondering something along those lines myself - and I have the laziest SS and DH when it comes to chores.
If the chores are the normal chores a teenager has to do while living with his family, then you are on point.
If you are using chores as punishment, it all depends on what the crime was and if you planned on having him do the 90 minutes all at once. Note: I dont think 90 minutes worth of chores as a punishment is a bad thing...just not all at once because after about 30, he is going to loose it and start doing it wrong...breaking up the chores in inciments makes the punishment more effective.
But no, you are not evil.
That is not 90 minutes worth of chores (unless your home is like the Vanderbilt mansion, and it takes 60 minutes to vaccum the stairs). That is 30 minutes worth of chores that has stretched into 90.
Unless he is a complete slob, his room and bathroom should take 10 minutes each. I'm assuming he doesn't have to scrub the fixtures with a toothbrush.
I agree that it shouldnt take 90 minutes to do the chores listed, but if it is a lazy teenager we are talking about who isnt wanting to do chores at all, I think it is possible that he is dragging the chores out.

Why are you enforcing this and not your DH?
I tell my kids I'm mean. DH will tell you I'm a mean mom. I am. I'm a mean mom. My kids have to do all their homework before free time, they have to keep their rooms neat, they have household chores, and they get additional chores for bad behavior. I also make them do schoolwork during the summer.
Stay strong, mean mom.
